Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway was told to keep quiet after the show was hit with “breaking news.”
The ITV series returned for another instalment on Thursday (May 2). And it was Kate and Richard Madeley who were on hand to deliver the latest news stories.
But things took an awkward turn when the programme was hit with “breaking news” about pop star Britney Spears. Show regular Richard Arnold was there to discuss the latest news regarding the musician.

He said: “Breaking Britney news from the gurus at TMZ. They are reporting in the last few hours that Britney has settled her divorce with ex Sam Asghari, almost a year after he pulled the plug on their marriage by filing for divorce.”
He added: “The pair are said to filed a stipulated judgment,” however he was soon cut-off by Kate. Interrupting him, she wanted to know more and quipped: “What’s that mean?”
The entertainment editor of GMB Richard turned and told her: “I’m about to explain,” shutting her down. Red-faced, Kate said: “Ok I’ll shut up sorry,” as Richard replied: “Yes thank you Kate.”
He then added: “it’s an agreement to settle the case. Now a judge will sign off soon and when that happens, the marriage will be history.”
After being married for 14 months, Sam Asghari decided to call it quits and officially filed for divorce from pop sensation Britney Spears last year. The two lovebirds began their romantic journey in 2017 and seemed hopelessly in love.
Asghari proposed to Britney in 2021 before tying the knot in a swanky ceremony at Britney’s California residence on June 9, 2022. However, things took a turn as he lodged a divorce application in August 2023. Sam disclosed they chose to separate after merely “growing apart”.
He only had good things to say about his former spouse. He revealed: “It was a blessing to be able to share life with someone for a long time. And people grow apart and people move on.”
