Katie Price is reportedly in debt with HMRC for over £760,000 – with the TV star needing to sell property or investments to level up.
Court papers have said that the mum-of-five has already been petitioned by the non-ministerial department of the UK Government – who are responsible for the collection of taxes – to make the star bankrupt. Katie will face her fate next month when she appears before a judge.
If HMRC’s claim is successful, Katie’s £2million home in Sussex hangs in the balance. This after the star recently ploughed so much time and effort into bringing back the 19-room mansion to life again on her Channel 4 docu-series.

According to Daily Mail: “The debtor is justly and truly indebted to us in the aggregate sum of £761,994.05.” Reportedly the papers also state there had been “failure to comply with a statutory demand for a liquidated sum, payable immediately.”
It is alleged that most of the debt has been racked up from unpaid self-assessment tax with the star reported to owe £535,700, with a further £40,000 lumped on top for late payment fines.
There is a further claim that Katie is in debt for over £140,000 for missing VAT payments, with £10,000 added additional in fees. In January, Katie was expected to appear before a court in regards to £3.2million insolvency debt but this was adjourned after the former glamour model pleaded with the judge that she was “scared”.
Prior to the remote hearing being made private, Katie told the judge: “I’m scared to be on here because of people on this site, they’re awful about me, they put all my private stuff on here, it’s a site where they just slag everyone off.”

Katie said she felt “petrified” and the trolls had caused her anxiety. Judge Greenwood agreed with the troubled star and said: “I simply cannot know who is present in court remotely.” He went on to add that he couldn’t “be sure” the “integrity of the hearing is not being affected”.
At that point Judge Greewood ordered for the press and members of public to exit the virtual hearing. With the case reportedly now adjourned until April – say The Sun.
When it comes to the legal process, Katie is no stranger. Back in 2019, the reality TV star also found herself bankrupt after her failed company Jordan Trading Ltd up racked up £3.2m debt. Daily Star has reached out to Katie’s representative for a comment.
An HMRC spokesperson said: “We do not comment on individuals. We take a supportive approach to dealing with customers who have tax debts and do everything we can to help those who engage with us to get out of debt, such as offering instalment plans. We only petition for bankruptcy as a last resort.”
