Kerry Katona was pushed to make arrangements for her children after a terrifying cancer scare.
The former Atomic Kitten songstress, 43, has opened up about her traumatic health scare over the past few months. Back in 2020, the mum-of-five revealed that she had been diagnosed with endometriosis.
The NHS defines it as a long-term chronic condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb is found elsewhere in the body. But in recent weeks, the blonde bombshell has been suffering from excruciating symptoms that forced her to consult her GP.

Speaking to OK! magazine, the TV personality revealed she has been losing large, dark clumps of vaginal blood and even having painful bleeding after sex. But when she went through three periods in a month, she got tested for cancer.
Upon further inspection, doctors discovered blood in Kerry’s cervix and a cyst on her right ovary. In an effort to take her mind off things while she waited for more test results, Kerry jetted off to Spain with her fiancé Ryan Mahoney, 36.
She told the publication: “When I got that news, in my head I thought, ‘I’ve got cancer, I’m going to die’. That’s why Ryan and I went away by ourselves.” But the star was still in crippling pain during her well-deserved getaway.
The reality star recalled one instance that left her doubled over in pain by the pool. She described the pain as if someone had a “Stanley knife and was cutting me inside”.
It was at this point that the doting mum – who is a proud parent to Molly, 22, Lilly, 21, Heidi, 17, Max, 16 and Dylan-Jorge, 10 – made some life-changing plans. Kerry told the outlet: “I was terrified and said to Ryan, ‘We need to get married right now and you need to adopt DJ’.
“If I die, she doesn’t have a legal guardian so I was forced to have those conversations. Ryan has basically raised DJ but we need to work out a plan if the worst happens and get all our ducks in a row.
“So many things were going through my head, like it being cervical cancer or womb cancer.” Just days after returning to the UK from what she hoped would be a relaxing holiday, Kerry went for a follow-up scan. And thankfully, it was good news.
She reassured fans that her cervix is now clear of blood and there are no signs of cancer. Despite this reassurance, the hitmaker is still considering a hysterectomy to help alleviate some of the pain from her endometriosis.
Although the star was given the all clear from doctors, Kerry is still concerned about her risk of cancer due to her family’s extensive history with the devastating illness. Opening up about her family’s health struggles, the Whole Again singer’s explained her biological dad died at the age of 63 from gullet cancer.
But he wasn’t the only one who faced cancer in her family. Her mum was 30 when she was diagnosed with cancer after her grandmother battled with breast cancer.
