Kurt Cobain’s daughter pens heartbreaking tribute 30 years after untimely death

Frances Bean Cobain has released an emotional tribute to her legendary father Kurt Cobain 30 years on from his tragic passing.

Unsurprisingly, Frances has inherited her dad’s talent, making a name for herself as a visual artist, and while three decades have passed since she lost her father, the grief still remains.

The legacy of the rock legend, who passed away on April 5, 1994, remains alive today, through his daughter, who posted a touching tribute on Instagram to honour the mark he left on the music industry.

Speaking on the Nirvana frontman, she explained: “I wish I could’ve known my Dad. I wish I knew the cadence of his voice, how he liked his coffee or the way it felt to be tucked in after a bedtime story.

“I always wondered if he would’ve caught tadpoles with me during the muggy Washington summers, or if he smelled of Camel Lights and strawberry Nesquik (his favorites, I’ve been told).”

Posting on her account, thespacewitch, the artist broke hearts, as she discussed how her relatives would often see Kurt’s features in her.

She elaborated: “His mom Wendy would often press my hands to her cheeks and say, with a lulling sadness, ‘You have his hands’. She would breathe them in as if it were her only chance to hold him just a little bit closer, frozen in time. I hope she’s holding his hands wherever they are.”

Prior to his harrowing death, Kurt left his beloved daughter a letter, which she treasures deeply. She revealed: “The last line of it reads, ‘Wherever you go or wherever I go, I will always be with you’. He kept this promise because he is present in so many ways. Whether it’s by hearing a song or through the hands we share, in those moments, I get to spend a little time with my dad, and he feels transcendent.” Frances is the only child of Kurt Cobain’s romance with Hole frontwoman, Courtney Love.
