Liam Payne made name change for second career after One Direction stardom

Liam Payne went by a completely different moniker.

As well as his solo work, Liam produced remixes under the name “Payno” and “Big Payno”. He worked with AfterHrs to remix a number of tracks including Cheryl’s I Don’t Care back in 2014 and is also credited on her track I Won’t Break.

Payne served as a director to One Mode Production Limited and has collaborated with a number of famous faces throughout his career, including Juicy J, DJ Mustard, Miguel and Wiz Khalifa.

Ed Sheeran co-wrote Strip That Down, Payne’s debut solo single featuring Migos star Quavo. The single saw chart success in 2017, reaching number ten on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number three on the UK Singles Chart.

Payne sadly died on 16 October aged 31 after falling from a third floor building in Buenos Aires, Argentina at the Hotel Cas Sur in Palermo.

A local ambulance manager told TMZ: “At 17:04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel. At 17:11 a same team arrived and verified the death of this man and we later found out that he was a singer in a musical group.”

“Unfortunately, he had injuries that were incompatible with life as a result of his fall, so we had to confirm his death, there was no possibility of resuscitation.” Celebrities, fans and loved ones have spoken out in light of the singer’s death.

Fellow X Factor sensation Olly Murs took to Instagram to post a picture with Liam and shared a touching tribute in the caption. He wrote: “This news is devastating, am lost for words [sad emoji] we always had a good laugh when we saw each other, sometimes the catch ups were only short and sweet […].”

Olly explained that the pair would talk about “how annoyingly good his hair looked,” “the old X Factor days” and “the tour they shared together”. Murs explained that Payne “shared the same passions” as him and wrote that he was “truly gutted and devastated for his family” and young son Bear.
