Liam Payne’s body to fly back to UK as singer’s return date finally confirmed

An update about Liam Payne’s body has been issued.

According to reports, the One Direction singer will be flown back to the UK by Monday 4 November “at the latest”. His funeral is also expected to be taking place in the days following his return.

Undertakers are said to have moved the singer from a morgue in Buenos Aires to a British Cemetery after prosecutors have his father Geoff permission to return him home.

Local media have reported that his return will be either Sunday 3 November or Monday 4 November as “48 hours maximum”. Argentinian publication La Nacion reported that Payne’s father was told personally by prosecution chief Andres Madrea that he would be able to return home to the UK with his son two weeks after the tragic balcony fall.

The news outlet said: “All the documents are ready for the former One Direction singer to return to his homeland so a funeral can take place there next week. When Geoff Payne reached Argentina on October 18, he was told the repatriation process could take between four and five days, but because of the circumstances surrounding his son’s death things took longer than expected.”

Former One Direction singer Liam Payne sadly fell to his death from a third floor balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 16 October. Plans to release his first posthumous single Do No Wrong were recently announced but quickly shelved due to backlash from fans.

Many begged for “respect” for Payne’s family after producer Sam Pounds issued a statement regarding his plans to release the song. Pounds said the decision was an attempt to “eclipse the negative echoes” in the wake of his death.

Pounds took to Instagram to write: “Today I’m deciding to hold Do No Wrong and leave those liberties up to all family members. I want all proceeds to go to a charity of their choosing (or however they desire). Even though we all love the song it’s not the time yet.”
