Liz Hurley insists lesbian sex scenes filmed by son are ‘integral’ to new movie plot

Liz Hurley has been forced to defend her lesbian romp scene in her son Damian’s directorial debut.

Liz, 58, is starring as Lily in her 22-year-old son’s first film, erotic thriller Strictly Confidential. The movie follows Mia, who is haunted after the suicide of her best friend Rebecca. She reluctantly accepts an invite to spend time with Rebecca’s family in the Caribbean on the anniversary of her death, but she’s soon certain there’s more to her passing than it first seemed.

In steamy scenes depicting an affair between Lily and her daughter’s friend, Liz dons a slashed gold gown as her co-star Pear Chiravara peppers kisses down her neck. Now Hurley has confessed it was “integral” to the plot of the movie.

She told TooFab: “Well, it was a very important part of storytelling, when Mia, our protagonist, is on this quest to find out why her best friend killed herself. It was so integral to [the storytelling] that the actual physical filming of it wasn’t even something we talked about really.

“We just knew that the impact it would have on the story and the rest was just our job,” she added. Damian, meanwhile, said the films felt “totally normal” to film.

He admitted to The Sunday Times: “I hate to say that it felt totally normal. I don’t know what that says about us. I was speaking to a lot of my friends who are also second generation of parents in the industry. They say exactly the same thing: that things to outsiders that may seem totally strange and extraordinary, for us we’ll just have grown up with in everyday life.”

Liz told Access Hollywood she felt “looked after” while filming the scene, and said it felt “liberating” to film a sex scene with a member of her family. Damian even takes his mum’s sexy pictures, while she takes his – and it’s completely normal.

He said: “Showbusiness has been a fundamental part of my entire life. So to us, it’s not a thing. She takes my photos, I take hers.” Liz welcomed Damian, her only child, with the late film producer Steve Bing in 2002, though she previously confessed to rowing about children with her ex Hugh Grant.

Speaking to Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen, Liz said she didn’t seriously consider having kids with Grant, but did consider what their potential offspring would look like. She said: “Of course had [we had children], I wouldn’t have baby [Damian], so you could never regret anything. Of course, we used to think about it because we used to fight all day.

“We used to look in the mirror next to each other and say, ‘It would have to be my eyes.’ ‘No, my eyes.’ ‘Your hair?’ ‘No, my hair. I’ve got a much better mouth.’ So, we used to bicker for hours about who would look like who and, of course, none of his children look like him as it happened.”
