The Loose Women panel are raging over the new “awful” Shannon Matthews musical film.
Shannon Matthews: The Musical is a new film based on a musical about the disappearance of schoolgirl Shannon Matthews, which was front page news back in 2008.
She was missing for 24 days before she was found underneath her mother’s boyfriend’s bed, luckily alive and well. The movie will reportedly feature songs including Shannon Ain’t Dead (She’s Under My Bed) and Karen Calls The Maddie Hotline.

The Loose Women panellists discussed whether it is “ever OK to sing-along to true crime,” and first to speak was Nadia Sawalha who explained that she is a fan of “dark humour and satire,” but draws the line at the Shannon Matthews musical.

She said: “The subject matter for me is too much. This is a young girl who went through absolute hell, that is still here [alive], and imagine that – you see your trauma as a sing-along?!”
Denise Welch said that the situation was “traumatic” as she recalled the events that took place. Olivia Atwood also explained that dark humour can be “powerful” and quipped: “I honestly don’t think that you ever need to sing about anything! Good or bad!”
Atwood said that hearing someone sing about Shannon who had been “hidden away for 24 days” would be “awful”. Kaye Adams said that merging humour and true crime tends to “blur the lines” as Denise wondered: “It would also be interesting as to whether or not this family were actually part of this narrative, whether they know about it. I don’t think it is something I will be running along to see.”

Down in the comment section of the Loose Women YouTube channel, fans of the show had a lot to say about the shocking musical. One person wrote: “An utter, utter disgrace, this is not entertainment, this is real life. Also I’m with Olivia, musicals are dreadful.”
Others branded the film “ridiculous” and “disgusting,” while someone simply wrote: “Shameful.” The production was even called a “terrible” idea by one furious fan.
Someone else chimed in: “Lucy Letby the musical…just waiting for it. Disgusting.”
