Loose Women star Denise Welch seemed to have a cheeky pop at Taylor Swift following the release of her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department.
Denise’s son Matty Healy of The 1975 dated the pop superstar for a two-week period last year, with the relationship providing the inspiration for several of Taylor’s new tracks. Matty hooked up with the singer after her split from Joe Alwyn after six years, who appears to have escaped getting slammed in her songs.
The first single from the record – Fortnight (featuring Post Malone) – seems to refer to Taylor and Matty’s 14-day dalliance. Now, the mother-in-law who never was has issued a sly dig towards the songstress.

Chatting about Taylor to her ITV show’s co-stars, Denise joked: “I wasn’t aware she had an album out at all… Anyway I wish her all the best.”
Matty, broke his own silence on Taylor’s release on Wednesday (April 24) when pressed about his thoughts on a “diss track”. He told Entertainment Tonight: “I haven’t really listened to that much of it but I’m sure it’s good.”
In Fortnight’s second verse, Taylor acknowledges a short-term fling that helped her “move on”. It was most likely to be another reference to Matty.
She sings: “All my mornings are Mondays stuck in an endless February / I took the miracle move on drug and the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life / I touched you for only a fortnight.” The promotional video sees Taylor and Post using typewriters – an item Matty reportedly brought with him to her abode during their romance
And in another song on Taylor’s 11th album – The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived – she describes a man in a “Jehovah’s Witness suit” who “rusted her sparkling summer”, seemingly referring to Matty’s regular attire.
According to US Weekly, 35-year old Matty was relieved the songs didn’t cast him in as much of a “negative light” as he feared. “Matty still thinks very highly of Taylor but we were all nervous about what she might have said on the album,” a source told the publication. “Matty’s family were worried that Taylor was going to rip him apart. Matty has struggled with life in the public eye, and he’s been doing really well, but the last thing that he needs is for every Swiftie in the world to think he’s a villain.
Another insider added: “He was worried that their story would be shed in a negative light’ but was ‘really appreciative of the heads up’ he got from Swift.”
