Loose Women’s Linda Robson eyes up soap stint as bosses approach her with role

Linda Robson has announced that she has been approached for a new role on one of the biggest shows on British TV.

Linda, 65, already has a string of hit shows under her belt including Birds of a Feather and The Bill thanks to her decades on screen. But now, it seems Robson might be making a huge new career move as producers approach her for her perfect role.

Speaking to the Daily Mail on Sunday (February 11), the Loose Women panellist revealed that bosses had in fact asked her why she had not joined the show. She replied that she was never asked to be a part of the series, but hinted that might be about to change.

In the interview, Linda spilled the beans that even though she is of retirement age, she could not “think of anything worse” than hanging up her acting boots. It was here that she added that BBC producers had asked her whether she wanted to have a role in EastEnders.

Telling all, she said: “One of the producers came up to me recently and asked why I’d never been on the show. ‘Because you ain’t f***ing asked me!’ I told him.

“And he said they would have do to something about that,” she continued. “So you never know! I think I’d be quite good on there, don’t you?”

Linda is known for her feisty approach to topics and no-nonsense demeanour. Her off-the-cuff, witty remarks have always caused a stir, with ITV bosses fearing for another F-bomb do drop live on-air as she did as she promoted a competition on Loose Women in 2022.

But away from the cameras, Linda opened up to struggling with her mental health for well over a decade. She admitted that she first began to feel the symptoms of depression and addiction creep in in 2008, some fourteen years ago.

Bravely writing in her soon-to-be-released memoir, Linda admitted how drinking became a regular habit for the actress. She opened up on how one normal glass of wine a night would go on to become downing an entire bottle a night, as well as suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and insomnia.

Reading an extract of her upcoming book, Linda bared all: “I hated myself. I told myself I was just a burden to Mark and the kids and that I was ruining all their lives.”

Thankfully, Linda has been in a much better state of mental health since then and has gone from strength to strength. However, she did face heartbreak at the end of last year when she separated from her husband of 33 years, Mark Dunford.

Speaking to Women’s Own magazine last November, she confirmed the pair had gone their separate ways, adding that: “He’s a really good dad and we had some good years, but enough is enough.” She also said: “I’m keeping busy, I feel fine. I’m just going away on trips all the time!”
