Lord Sugar takes savage swipe at Simon Cowell and vows never to have plastic surgery

Lord Sugar has asserted he won’t ever have plastic surgery because he “doesn’t want to look like Simon Cowell”.

The 77-year-old business mogul and star of BBC’s The Apprentice over nearly two decades has outlined his views on ageing as he commits to “growing old gracefully”. The billionaire, who roped in Dr Leah Totton to be his next business partner after crowning her winner of The Apprentice in 2013, has refused her cosmetic clinic services that she set up using his £250,000 investment.

Notably, among all winners, Dr Leah is one of only two still doing business with Lord Sugar through her successful surgery centre, Dr Leah Clinics. Despite her efforts to convert him into a patient, Lord Sugar, who undertook skin surgery around his eyes for improved vision in 2007, revealed: “Leah has been absolutely dying to inject me with loads of bloody things, and while my wife and daughter go to her for these things, I’ve told her, ‘No, thanks’, and haven’t let her do a thing.”

He then lampooned music tycoon Simon Cowell, 64, stating: “I mean, what has Simon done to himself? He’s a really nice chap, but he’s been looking a bit strange lately – God forbid I were to ever go down that road. If you looked at a picture of me 20 years ago and one now, there would be a dramatic difference in the two. But then again, I am 77 and growing old gracefully doesn’t bother me at all.”

Simon Cowell has hit back at the persistent whispers about him getting a nip and tuck, after Ant and Dec cheekily hinted that the BGT boss is no stranger to a facelift. Speaking previously, Simon laughed off the rumours: “I think it’s hysterical. I mean, it just makes me laugh. I haven’t had a facelift or anything. I’ve had a bit of Botox or whatever, but nothing drastic. So when I hear about this stuff, honestly it does make me laugh.”, reports the Mirror.

Meanwhile, Lord Sugar is gracing our screens again with the latest instalment of The Apprentice, where Phil Turner and Rachel Woolford are battling it out in the final showdown. Earlier this week, Tre Lowe, Flo Edwards, and Paul Midha missed their shot at the final after enduring a gruelling interview process with Lord Sugar’s trusted advisors.

In an exclusive heart-to-heart with the Mirror, the trio, Paul, Tre, and Flo opened up about their disappointment at not making the cut for the final. Dentist Paul shared his thoughts: “Never live in the past, whatever has happened has happened, always live in the moment but, for me, I was absolutely gutted that I didn’t get that mentorship. That’s the main reason we’re all there for, anyone can learn from their own mistakes but a wise person learns from the mistakes of others.”

“And Lord Sugar was always openly admitting that he’ll never tell you what to do, but he’ll tell you what not to do from his experiences that’s priceless. To not be able to get that is gutting but, I think we can all say that we could all hold our heads up high.” The Sussex businesswoman, who’d hoped to set up a recruitment company with the investment money, voiced. “I would have happily bowed out to any of the other four candidates in the top five.

“They are all entirely deserving of the place. And so whilst I’m personally gutted, I am delighted with the fact that I was in the final five with such amazing people.” Meanwhile, pop star Tre lauded the “level of encouragement” among the finalists. “It didn’t feel that we were competing against each other, it generally felt that we wanted all of us to win,” he clarified. “Everyone was like, ‘Let’s go and do this.’ And I love that if I was able to go into war, I’d want these four by my side because I know I’m going to win.”
