In the show, fans have been watching as dental nurse Cat from the Channel Island of Jersey and funeral director Freddie from Bolton fall in love. But some red flags were raised when the pair started to talk about their family lives.

Cat admitted that she was named Mary after her grandmother – the same name as Freddie’s “nana”

A clip shared on the show’s Instagram page shows the pair grow closer as they talk about their loved ones and are surprised by how much they have in common with each other. Cat was seen gushing over her on-screen partner, saying he was a charming man, with a great sense of humour.

As the couple slowly got to know each other, both were surprised by the fact they shared the same surname Powell. The couple were slightly taken aback by the coincidence, but carried on as they slowly got to know each other more, only to find things getting more strange.

The pair joked about their middle name, saying she was given the name Mary after her grandmother. A bemused Freddie chimed in that his “nana” was also called Mary in another strange match-up for the couple, leading Cat to become emotional and wipe away her tears.

Things only got weirder for the couple as they also realised their grandfathers were both called Bill, leaving the couple confused. Freddie could not believe what he was hearing, adding that he “got goosebumps” at the strange situation.

Watching the clip, many fans were left horrified at the potential for a related couple, and pleaded with bosses to get them to take a DNA test. One fan begged: “We’re Soulmates!… Me: Or we’re cousins!…. Can we get a DNA test done before we go any further?”

A second user joked: “Can you please show the scene where it dawns on them that they’re cousins?” Whilst a third also added: “Can’t wait for them to find out they’re actually first cousins at the reveal,” followed by a red heart emoji.

The first four episode of the British version of the show finally aired on Wednesday (August 7) after months of waiting for fans. The show follows 30 singletons as they look for love without judging based on looks.

If the relationship blossoms and the pair fall in love together, there is the potential for a wedding-filled final. But once the couples see each other in the flesh, will they make that decision?
