Love Island fans were left gobsmacked by Joey Essex’s smooching skills during the first saucy game of the series on Tuesday night’s episode.
The 33-year-old former TOWIE star, who made a surprise entrance on the launch show, has been quick to mingle with the ladies. During the game, Joey had to select three girls he was most attracted to and kiss them for ten seconds – but his technique left viewers at home stunned.
He opted to lock lips with Samantha, Harriett and Nicole – and following the kisses, Samantha didn’t hold back in the beach hut, criticising Joey’s kissing as being “all teeth”. After hearing Samantha’s comments, fans were quick to comment on Joey’s skills.

Heading over to X, one fan wrote: “Why is this man EATING their faces?” Another asked: “Why did every single one of those kisses make me cringe so hard I had to step away from the tv.”

A third chimed: “The way Joey kissed, you know it’s not good. No flow just rough movement.”
A fourth vier chimed: “Joey really said copy and paste with them kisses.” While another devastated viewer said: “Joey? Why does he kiss like that?”
On Monday night (June 3) Joey made Love Island history when he became the first celebrity to join the cast of singletons. Joey has no previous connection to the show, so fans were stunned to see the hunky lad from Essex appear on their screens.
Joey’s unexpected arrival led to the show being streamed 2.1 million times. This was an uplift of 24 percent on the same episode last year and gave ITVX its best day for six weeks.
ITV execs are hoping the format twist will continue to boost ratings and fans of Joey will engage with his story. An insider told MailOline: “Joey has signed up to Love Island for all the right reasons.

“He’s 33 years old and really wants to find someone he can settle down with, he wants a wife and to have children one day. Not many people know the real Joey, over the years he’s hidden behind his reality TV persona but being on Love Island will give him the opportunity to show his true self.”
