‘Love Island girls are boring – they need an all-natural fiery redhead like me in villa’

A model has slammed the Love Island line-up for being ‘boring’ and reckons an ‘all-natural fiery red’ head like her is just what the show needs.

Nova Jewels, 27, from Scotland, is fed up of the ITV2 hit regurgitating ‘similar’ looking contestants year on year – a sentiment echoed by many on social media.

After the summer 2024 Love Island line-up was announced before the show kicks off with Maya Jama on Monday (June 2), people have been noticing that four of the women look very similar with their glam brunette looks.

And now confidently controversial Nova is asking for a big shake-up to the villa after claiming Love Island is adhering to the “world full of copies.”

She exclusively told us: “That show needs a Scottish, fiery redhead to spice it up.

“I would have the time of my life in that villa. Meeting new people, looking for love, and causing chaos all at the same time. I can already picture my slow-motion walk as I’m making my way in for the first time.

“It would be lovely to see more natural women on reality shows. I think it’s very clear that there is definitely a specific type of person that they go on the hunt for when casting for these shows.

“A larger variety of men and women would be refreshing to see and I know a lot of people will agree with that.”

This year, like previous, some social media users filled comment sections with calls for Love Island to mix up the casting.

This came after the show posted pictures to X of contestants Nicole Samuel, Patsy Field, Jessica White and self-proclaimed ‘glamorous scouse’ Samantha Kenny – who all sport a very similar look, often identified with long tresses, plump lips and chiselled cheeks.

One social media user questioned: “Why do they all look the same?” As another slammed: “They all look exactly the same.” And a third mocked: “The girls look like they’re from the same family.”

Nova, who prides herself on being fully natural, shares a similar view over the four women who supposedly have an uncanny resemblance to one another.

She feels that there needs to be more women of all shapes and sizes to show off different forms of beauty, not just the incredibly glamorous side that is beamed to millions of viewers a night in the summer.

The model said: “I’ve seen the comments and as always there are ones I agree with and ones I disagree with.

“I mean there were comments stating that people who have cosmetic surgery done shouldn’t be on the show – which is a ridiculous remark to make.

“I think it would just be nice for everyone, especially the younger generation, to see that ‘beauty’ comes in all shapes, sizes and flaws. That ‘generic look’ that you constantly see is not the only form of beauty.

“There are 8.1 billion people on this planet, imagine how boring it would be if everyone looked the same.”

Last year, plastic surgeon Dr Nyla Raja revealed to Grazia that she received 40% of new patient requests on the evenings when Love Island airs.

Female clients would even request that treatments are based on the features of particular contestants.

While none of Love Island’s cohort from this year have discussed any cosmetic surgery they have had done, many past cast members have spoken about getting work done before and after the show.

Without hair extensions, layers of makeup and not a needle to the face, Nova is proud of being an ‘all-natural’ beauty. She hopes that other people would follow the same path to be ‘original’ and not a ‘copy’ of one another.

Nova concluded: “It’s something I am definitely proud of, especially in the world that we are living in now.

“I am so comfortable in my own skin and I wish more people could feel the same way about themselves.

“Not once have I ever been tempted or considered getting anything done to my face or my body because honestly, what other people are doing is of no interest to me at all.

“I’m proud of myself for not being led astray by what everyone else posts about on social media.

“In a world full of copies, be an original.”
