Love Island viewers were left fretting over Sam Taylor just moments before he got the boot from the villa.
The 23-year-old Sheffield snipper was given the chop from the ITV2 reality show on Tuesday evening, becoming the first casualty of the new series. It was former TOWIE star Joey Essex who had the grim task of picking a lass to pair up with.
This meant that the lad left single by his choice would be sent packing. Before the big reveal, fans flocked to Twitter expressing their worries for Sam, noticing he’d hardly had any airtime.

One concerned viewer tweeted: “Why is everyone acting like Sam is invisible? Does he smell or something? #LoveIsland.”
Another chimed in: “Why is no one pouncing on Sam rn #loveIsland.”, reports the Mirror. A third fan called out: “Show us sam #loveIsland.”
While another commented: “It’s almost like Sam has vanished from our screens #loveIsland.” Confused, one fan questioned: “does sam’s breath stink? why is no one going for him #loveIsland.”
Someone else expressed their fear: “I fear sam might be going home and I’m not okay with that tbh #loveisland.” And another pleaded: “No because Sam can’t go #loveIsland.”
Joey was given the immense power to choose who would leave after spending a day with the villa ladies. Despite having intimate chats with each, it was Samantha that he seemed to click most with.
The lads in the villa weren’t pleased seeing Joey hold their fates in his hands. Finally, around the firepit, Joey affirmed he made the “right decision” picking Samantha as his partner.
As of Monday night, fresh faces descended on the villa during the launch event. Maya Jama came back to her hosting role after doing a fine job in the All Stars series earlier this year.
The Islanders marked the beginning of the new series getting paired up and welcoming a surprise celebrity guest. The first day saw a dozen young lads and lasses move into the villa, with TOWIE legend Joey Essex showing up as the inaugural bombshell for this season.
In a revealing chat before the show, 33-year-old Joey let it slip that he wasnt approached for the show but applied himself. He discussed all the extreme measures he took to keep his much-anticipated villa entry on the hush.
