The second Married At First Sight Australia dinner party of the series ended in dramatic fashion on Thursday (March 14) after a bride stormed out following a blazing row with her other half.
Sara Mesa and Tim Calwell soon found themselves at loggerheads at the dining table as they discussed a series of cancelled dates. The pair, who were the first to arrive on the evening, were speaking to the rest of the group when all hell broke loose.
Tim began by explaining to the group: “We’re on different pages in terms of effort and trying to make things work, and I’m being portrayed as weak and needy. I tried to arrange a date three weeks in a row.”

But disagreeing, Sara insisted: “He actually didn’t plan anything. He didn’t say ‘we’re going here, we’re doing this’ – he just said let’s do something on Sunday.”
Clearly frustrated, Tim hit back: “Nah, I was like, ‘you’re booked out from 2pm onwards, so wear something nice”. But accusing him of lying to their pals, Sara raged: “No you didn’t!” – prompting her husband to argue: “Yes I did – you can’t shut me down!” After further denials from Sara, he continued: “You’re shutting me down. You’re not letting me have a voice.”
That remark appeared to tip Sara over the edge, who rose to her feet in tears and left the table where she was consoled by her fellow brides. As she stood, she screamed: “Don’t you ever f**king yell at me, you f**king pr**k!”
Whilst some sympathised with her, fellow bride Cassandra was very vocal in her support for Tim, admitting she would have loved to have been given the opportunity to go on a series of dates. Explaining her reluctance to spend more time with him, meanwhile, a defensive Sara said it was “difficult spending 24 hours a day with him” and had opted to “go out with her girlfriends” instead on one day in question.
Later in the episode after having time to reflect on their fiery exchange, Tim attempted to make amends. “I apologise for raising my voice,” he said. “But I felt like I couldn’t speak. Clearly we have things to work out and I want to do that by talking – like this.”
Chaos soon ensued once more, however, after Sara continued to “shut down” her hubby despite his apology and previous grievances. It resulted her storming out of the building – and not returning.
“These experts better remember to hold Sara accountable at the next commitment ceremony,” declared one X (formerly Twitter) user afterwards. Sara is a manipulative gaslighter,” slammed another. “Those terms get thrown about a lot these days but that is absolute textbook. She riles him up then makes it about his reaction. Vile creature.”
And a third agreed: “Poor Tim…. go home mate… save yourself from more of Sara’s BS….. and get some therapy asap.”
