MAFS Australia fans ‘work out’ Ben’s ‘plan’ as star confronted by wife’s cousin

Married at First Sight Australia fans “worked out” why Ben is taking part in the social experiment.

During Thursday’s instalment (February 29) of the E4 dating show, late arrivals Ben and Ellie came face to face at the altar. Despite instantly hitting it off, Ellie’s overprotective cousin Jordan cast doubt on their union.

At the reception, Jordan made it clear he felt Ben was doing the show for the wrong reasons and confronted him during dinner. During the chat, Jordan asked Ben what he does for a living.

“I do some tour guiding and I do my podcast as a hobby,’ Ben explained. Jordan immediately hit back: “Oh, you have a podcast? How many subscribers do you have?”

Jordan continued to grill the 39-year-old, asking bluntly Why are you here? Are you looking for a long-term relationship?” Speaking to the camera, Jordan continued sharing his concerns.

“I can always see the red flags in people and I’m getting bad juju vibes,” he said. “I just have it in my mind that Ben might be here for the wrong reasons.”

Jordan suggested that Ben signed up for the show for fame and to promote his podcast. He decided to pull Ben aside at the reception to interrogate him further.

Jordan discovered that Ben had applied to be on MAFS Australia before and had been approached about other dating shows, which only fuelled Jordan’s suspicions.

Speaking his mind, Jordan told his cousin’s new partner: “I’m going to be completely frank with you. I have concerns that you might be here to promote your touring business, to promote your podcast – you’re just here for fame.”

Instead of biting back, Ben said: “That makes sense why you’ve reached those conclusions. And if that does happen out of it then that’s one silver lining. But if love happens out of it, great.”

Fans headed straight to X, formerly Twitter, to share their thoughts on why Ben signed up for the show – and they agreed with Jordan. One wrote: “Ben’s answers are FAR from convincing. He’s either incredibly laid back or just not interested in a relationship and there for other reasons.”

Another agreed: “Ben, you’re not helping yourself. I still don’t like cousins, but Ben, are you here for your podcast!!!” A third declared: “Ben is not here for the right reason LOL

Someone else wrote: “Producer: Are you here for genuine reasons? Ben: Yes, whilst shaking his head no He is a fake in it for fame defo.” Meanwhile a fifth added: “Was just about to slate the meddling cousin, as there’s always a family member that gets too fecking involved with the bride/grooms business, but the way Ben is answering them questions is making me sus now too.”
