Margot Robbie says ‘disgusting’ bathtub scene in Saltburn left her ‘satisfied’

Margot Robbie has insisted she wasn’t shocked by the infamous bathtub scene in her movie Saltburn.

The controversial film, starring Barry Keoghan as Oliver Quick, has made headlines all over the world thanks to its jaw-dropping moments Starring Jacob Elordi, Barry Keoghan and Rosamund Pike, the film follows an Oxford University student invited home by his rich pal for the holidays, only to embark on a twisting tale of debauchery.

Star of the moment writer, director and producer Emerald Fennell is the mastermind behind the new movie – which has been deemed the “raciest film of the year.” And in one scene, that has since gone viral, Oliver’s lust for his pal reaches new levels.

In it, Jacob’s character Felix can be seen masturbating in a metal bathtub while at his family’s snazzy home. The steamy soak is watched on by Oliver, unbeknownst to Felix.

Once Felix is finished and leaves the bathroom. Oliver jumps straight in after. As the tub is drains, he then slurps up whatever he can just for a taste of Felix.

And while plenty of people have been left shocked at the scene, Margot Robbie, who is a producer on the flick, was the complete opposite. She said: “It didn’t feel that shocking in the script, because Emerald immerses you into a world so quickly.”

Margot said you feel “primed” for the scene and compared it to popping a spot

She added: “She’s so masterful at tone and plot; she gets you into it so quickly — you’re just immediately like, ‘I’m in this world.’ So by the time you get to something like the bathtub scene, she’s primed you for it. She’s got you, you’re, like, picking at a scab; you’re like, ‘I can’t help myself,’ or like popping a pimple: ‘I know I shouldn’t squeeze but I’m gonna.”

Barbie star Margot then noted how she felt that Emerald’s script. was “intentionally disgusting and satisfying.” She then said: “I think she wanted you to be equally as disgusted as you are titillated, and equally as shocked as you are by finding that depravity in yourself.”

Nonetheless, Margot branded the iconic scene as the “watercooler moment” which would have people talking about it for weeks – which is true. She also said how she believes Emerald managed to get “in the brains” of viewers.

Speaking about the scene himself Jacob said: “I was just really excited when I read that scene, because you don’t really see things like that in mainstream movies a lot of the time. He added to Stream Wars: “So it’s just great that Emerald was allowed to kind of push those boundaries and expose people like that.”
