Netflix fans can’t tear their eyes away from epic series and cry ‘good as hell’

Netflix fans cannot stop raving about one epic series they can’t stop watching.

Over in the Netflix Bangers group on Facebook, someone branded The Queen’s Gambit “good as hell” while another person said that they “loved it” and were “sad it was over”. Others urged the poster that the show is “well worth watching” while someone chimed in: “One of my favourites.”

“Spectacular, great and brilliant” read other comments as more Netflix streamers said that they have watched the series “multiple times”. “It’s great. I have watched it twice,” boasted one Anya Taylor-Joy fan.

One comment gushed: “Brilliant. Acting, casting, script, set design, costume design, cinematography, all [100] percent top notch. Highly recommended. I have watched it at least three times.”

People confessed that they found the show “riveting,” that it was “a fun watch,” that the show was “better than the book” and that they “loved every bit of it”. The Queen’s Gambit, starring Anya Taylor-Joy alongside Harry Melling, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Marielle Heller, Bill Camp and Moses Ingram, was released back in 2020.

The drama series spans just one season and was met with huge praise upon its release. The coming-of-age period drama is based on a novel of the same name, which was published back in 1983.

The show was praised by critics, fans and the chess community

After just four weeks, The Queen’s Gambit became Netflix’s most-watched scripted miniseries, which landed it the top spot in 63 countries. Netflix’s description of the show reads: “In a 1950s orphanage, a young girl reveals an astonishing talent for chess and begins an unlikely journey to stardom while grappling with addiction.”

Along with praise from critics and fans, the show had a positive response from the chess community for accurate depictions of high-level chess. Unsurprisingly, data has suggested that The Queen’s Gambit increased public interest in the game itself.

The show was awarded eleven Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes. Anya won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Miniseries or Television Movie.
