New Strictly Come Dancing star was never a fan of the show until he ‘f***ing loved’ audition

Strictly Come Dancing contestant Pete Wicks has claimed he’s never been a fan of the show.‌

But the reality telly star admitted he was suddenly hooked after doing his “taster” audition for the hit BBC series.‌

Pete, 36, said: “It’s the last thing I think anyone would ever think that I would do. ‌I’ve never thought about doing it. I’ve never really watched Strictly.

“What’s happened so far is that – and I can talk about this now, which is good – I did like a taster.‌

Pete Wicks didn’t like Strictly until his audition

“So you do like a taster day where I had to see how I got on for an hour with one of the pros. ‌And I’m going to be honest with you, I went because I was semi-forced to go by my management and [best pal] Sam [Thompson] and anyone else that is just obsessed with Strictly.

‌“And I did the taster and I f***ing loved it. I genuinely loved it.”

‌The former TOWIE regular told his mate Sam on their Staying Relevant podcast that he “instantly regretted” telling the costume department he would go all-in when it came to the show’s flamboyant outfits.

‌He revealed: “You also see like the costume team and they discuss what you like wearing, what you’re comfortable in and how far you’d like to go with it.

“And I spoke to my management beforehand and they said to me, ‘In for a penny, in for a pound.’

‌“And the costume lady was like, we’re going to have some fun. And I instantly regretted saying ‘In for a penny, in for a pound.’ I am f***ing petrified.

‌“You get 500 quid’s worth. That’s how big they’re going. I’m panicked now. ‌I’m flustered by this whole f***ing thing. I’m flustered by the whole thing because it’s a f***ing massive show. It’s an institution really, Strictly, isn’t it?

‌“It’s obviously such a big show that so many people are gonna watch, but they’re people that don’t know me. ‌Like, the audience is so different, they’re gonna f***ing hate me.”
