Nigel Farage ‘sweats’ under pressure as he’s grilled by Naga Munchetty on BBC Breakfast

Nigel Farage faced tough questions while appearing on BBC Breakfast as fans noticed him sweat while being interrogated on his figures.

As part of the 2024 election the popular morning programme hosted by Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt interviewed the leader of the Reform Party and later also spoke to Rhun ap Iorwerth who is the leader of Welsh party, Plaid Cymru. But while speaking to Nigel on Friday morning (June 14) things turned awkward as they questioned him on immigration, Brexit, taxes and patriotism.

Discussing migration, Naga asked whether the language that Nigel had previously used was “inflammatory”. She said: “Do you recognise that some of the language that you’ve used before and members of the Reform party have used around immigration is divisive and inflammatory?”

The I’m A Celeb star dismissed claims of using inflammatory language. He went on to say that net migration is currently running at three-quarters of a million people every year under a Conservative government.

He added: “For example, we have to provide a new home every two minutes in this country just to deal with net migration. I’ve argued that our infrastructure is crumbling. I’ve argued that our health service can’t cope.”

However, Naga quickly interrupted the campaigner as she seemed unsure about his figures. She asked: “Sorry, I do kind of want to clear up figures. Where did you get that every two minutes a new home is created for a migrant?”

Nigel replied: “Well, two and a half million have come to Britain over the course of the last two years. In fact, one in 30 people on the streets of Britain today have come in the last two years, which is extraordinary.”

Munchetty commented: “Now that figure I will say, we have fact-checked that figure. That figure takes a look at the people coming in and hasn’t accounted for the people who have left.”

Seeing Nigel under pressure, viewers were quick to point it out online. One social media user said: “I did notice that Nigel was really sweating this morning I wonder why?”

Another said: “Farage sweating his a**e off when questioned on his dog whistle comment on @BBCBreakfast. Well done to Naga and Charlie absolutely pinning him on it.”

While a third added: “Testy Farage sweating under interrogation of his made-up statistics on migration. More of this kind of questioning please.”

But some viewers thought Nigel handled the questions pretty well. One viewer said: “Well, @Nigel_Farage undoubtedly got the better of Naga & Charlie on @BBCBreakfast sofa!”

Later on in the interview, Charlie asked Nigel about patriotism. Speaking boldly, Nigel stated that he believes he’s more patriotic than all the political leaders as he attended the recent D-Day event and that he’s also not ashamed to wear a poppy.
