Noughties music legend Basshunter recalled a rather embarrassing TV moment.
The Now You’re Gone singer, 39, recalled starring on BBC’s Never Mind the Buzzcocks back in 2009. He was on Noel Fielding’s team but after failing a quiz round, the host of the episode David Walliams decided to “spank” him.
Walliams was sacked from Britain’s Got Talen in 2022 following leaked audio that revealed him making derogatory comments about contestants of the ITV show. Walliams has apologised for the remarks.
Basshunter spoke to us as he promoted Reminisce Festival and exclusively said: “I don’t remember much about being on UK TV back then, but what I do remember is being spanked by one of the hosts on Never Mind The Buzzcocks.”

When asked how he found that experience, he added: “It was quite nice actually! You can find it on YouTube if you type Basshunter on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, go see for yourself.”
Whilst on the topic of other old TV appearances, we asked him about his cheesy chat-up line which he used on Rochelle Humes, and if he had improved them over the years.
During the same year as the spanking, Basshunter also appeared on BBC Two music talk show Sound. The programme was hosted by Nick Grimshaw and Annie Mac, who took it upon themselves to play Cupid.
During the episode, the presenter pair tried to set him up with one of The Saturdays members, with Rochelle taking a seat next to the Swedish singer.
Nick said: “We’ve got five eligible ladies here… We thought we’d see which Saturday you’re most suited to.” The TV hosts then urged Basshunter to serve the This Morning star his best chat-up line.
He then looked at Rochelle and said: “If kisses were snowflakes, I want to give you a blizzard.” When reminded of his romantic gesture, he said: “Did I really say that? Wow, I can’t remember that. But I’m going to write that down and use it as a lyric. I’ll give you 5% for reminding me.”
Basshunter will be performing at Reminisce Festival on Saturday 7th September. The 10th anniversary sees Chesney Halkes, Five, Damage, Rozalla, K Klass, N Trance, Oceanic, Alison Limerick, John Martin, Sybil and Basshunter making a welcome return to this epic party. Tickets for the event can be found here and more info on Basshunter here.
