One of last people to see Liam Payne alive recalls ‘disturbing’ behaviour

One of the last people to see Liam Payne alive said he exhibited “disturbing” behaviour.

The For You singer, 31, tragically died after falling from his third floor hotel room balcony on Wednesday (October 16). Investigations into his death are now underway as authorities try to piece together the events that led to his death.

However, while investigations remain ongoing, some eyewitnesses have come forward to give their side of the story of what Liam was like ahead of his fatal fall. One woman has now come forward, saying that Liam was acting erratically in the lead-up to the incident.

Speaking to the Daily Mail about the incident, the woman – who was not named by the paper – said that Liam had approached her himself. He uttered the words: “I used to be in a boy band – that’s why I’m so f****d up.”

Liam reportedly went up to guests in the hotel foyer and told them he was “f****d up”

Using the alias of Rebecca, the woman was also staying at the luxurious CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires, where the Strip That Down hitmaker had also been residing. The 28-year-old added “there was something a bit desperate” in the way he was speaking, and that the conversation left her “shaken”.

In the interview, Rebecca says she spoke to Liam just minutes before he died, falling three storeys – equivalent to about 40 feet. She recalled meeting Liam in the foyer of the hotel on Wednesday afternoon local time, and got photos with him at approximately 4:26pm.

Following the incident, police were alerted to the fall at 5:04pm, and was declared dead at the scene by emergency workers just seven minutes later. American tourist Rebecca said that staff had been “a little on edge” after Liam had refused to check out of the suite he was staying in.

He got particularly handsy with some of the other female guests, leaving many “disturbed” with his behaviour

Washington DC resident Rebecca said that Liam had been waiting by the lift of the hotel in the hopes that someone would recognise him. She added: “When the lift came he suddenly said to us without any prompting: ‘Yes, I’m Liam!’ really drawing it out, and then said ‘All right come on you lot, get in the elevator with me, I love a cuddle’.

“I decided against it and waited for the next one, but some of the other girls got in with him and half way up, he started saying ‘Oh, you’re Americans, I live in West Palm Beach,'” she added. “I know Americans; you guys are f***ing crazy! You guys are f***ing dangerous!”

According to Rebecca, he then grabbed one of the girls and began to fake choke her. She said that while the girl involved took it on the chin, “others thought it was really disturbing”.

Ten minutes later, she returned to the foyer to find Liam on his laptop, before he became irate and smashed his laptop on the ground. Rebecca says she went up to him and asked him if he was okay, to which he grunted and walked away.

He would return to the lobby moments later, tripping up and falling on face – with hotel staff helping him back on his feet. She says he then went into the lift with staff up to his room, where he would eventually fall from.

It comes as the world continues to mourn the loss of the 31-year-old star. His One Direction bandmates posted a heartfelt tribute to him on their shared Instagram account, saying they were “completely devastated” at his passing.
