“At a push, it takes three people. It’s good fun. It’s more reliable because it’s steam.

“Forget all this electric nonsense. It’s the real deal.”

The famous British actor, 84, built the model himself. He said: “You buy it as a kit.
“It comes from Japan and then you undo the bits and you start and bolt up the bits and you build it slowly over time. It’s a five-inch gauge, which means that’s five inches between wheels, that’s the track that it sits on.
“The train is about five feet seven inches in length.” David has even ordered a second kit, saying: “I will get it fired up once the weather is less inclement.”
