Our kid’s guide to Oasis 2025 – what to wear, who will open and songs you can expect

After 15 years of will-they, won’t-they, they-definitely-won’t, Oasis are reforming for a slate of gigs across the UK and Ireland.

Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher appear to have buried the hatchet ahead of their shows at Wembley Stadium and Heaton Park next year. But what will the band sing? How do we keep our trendy selves in fashionable order? And which artists could possibly open for the notorious brothers who last shared a stage in 2009? The Daily Star has those sought-after answers.

So dust off the Stone Island jumper, fish out your worn pair of Doc Martens and find that bucket hat peppered with moth holes. Prepare yourself for what, in the words of Liam Gallagher, will be a “biblical” time.

Who will support Oasis

Oasis has more than a handful of hits – but which ones will they play?

Let the shock of seeing the Gallagher brothers announce an Oasis return settle and prepare to join the Ticketmaster queue. Those lucky few who do manage to get tickets to one of the tour dates (or more) will have more than a few artists in mind for opening acts.

Following the formula of LCD Soundsystem, Pulp and Blur over the last year, attendees can expect three artists to open the massive Oasis shows. For Blur, the likes of Self Esteem and Sleaford Mods were enlisted while LCD Soundsystem linked up with Idles and Young Fathers to warm up the crowds.

Oasis will be in no short supply of suitable artists to select from, but there are those who stick out more than others. Blossoms were frequently mentioned in dream line-up lists on Twitter/X and they certainly suit the tone Oasis bring about with their sound and attitude. Safe bets can be made on Blossoms appearing on the lineup, with the band already scheduled to appear on Liam Gallagher’s Malta Weekender festival.

The Gallagher brothers could also pluck a few independent artists making waves in the alternative rock scene. The likes of The Reytons and Lissy Taylor are available with their guitar-heavy sound and it certainly fits the bill of Oasis’ style. Other bands from the time of Oasis’ heyday still remain, with Sundara Kamara, The Charlatans and Sleeper all possible choices for the opening slots.

But what will the headliners play? Liam Gallagher has already stunned audiences with a full live performance of Definitely Maybe, and fans will expect a few of those hits to appear next year. Reformed bands are no stranger to playing their hits, with Pulp playing the obvious tracks of their discography as well as a few deep cuts. Oasis will likely offer the same wiggle room.

So prepare to hear Wonderwall, Live Forever and Don’t Look Back in Anger. Get ready to sing along to Slide Away and Half the World Away. Some songs are too iconic for a band to leave off their setlist, and the likelihood of too many deep cuts from the backlog is slim. But there may still be space for Acquiesce or Gas Panic!

What should you wear?

While the lineup and setlist may be out of our control, fashion is the one thing we can keep up to date before the gig. Natalie Chapman, senior fashion designer at menswear clothing brand Raging Bull, says the Fred Perry polos and vintage football shirts of the 1990s may be set for a comeback.

She said: “We’ve seen the revival of a number of 90s trends during 2024, from baggy ‘grunge’ style pieces to sports luxe. However, the reunion of an iconic band such as Oasis is sure to influence fashion as fans reminisce about their favourite 90s music. In fact, Liam Gallagher himself has often been named a style icon, with a wardrobe influenced by 1960s mod fashion and later launching his own clothing brand, Pretty Green.

“In menswear, we’ll likely see a revival of 90s Britpop classics such as the Fred Perry polo shirt, Adidas trainers and Harrington jackets. These versatile pieces are easy to wear and best styled with a pair of laid-back, tapered jeans and an oversized denim or leather jacket. We may also see vintage or past-season football shirts making a comeback. Think long sleeves with collars, block colours and a simple emblem on the chest.

“I’d advise opting for a baggier, more casual fit and keeping jackets and accessories simple and neutral if you’re wearing a statement shirt. You could even consider pairing the shirt with a smart overshirt with a straight-cut hem, to elevate the look.”
