P Diddy trial date set as judge makes decision over ‘abuse’ claims

P Diddy, real name Sean Combs, is set to face trial next May, it has been revealed.

The rapper was arrested last month on charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. Judge Subramanian scheduled the trial for May 5, but according to TMZ, federal prosecutors have indicated that their investigation is ongoing and could result in additional charges against Diddy.

Despite denying all allegations and requesting bail for a third time since his arrest, Diddy remains in Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, New York, facing 100 allegations of sexual abuse.

As he appeared in court on Thursday, family members including his mum, Janice Combs, and his twin daughters were present. Janice had previously defended her son, insisting he was “not a monster. Their appearance comes following reports they had visited the rapper in jail.

Since his initial arrest as many as 120 alleged victims have spoken up against Bad Boy Record’s boss Diddy who, through his legal team, has denied all allegations. His lawyers stated: “Mr Combs emphatically and categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim that he sexually abused anyone, including minors. He looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court, where the truth will be established based on evidence, not speculation.”

Eager for his day in court, Diddy is pushing for a trial as soon as this spring. A legal document sent to the US Department of Justice by his team asked for the disclosure of evidence in preparation for a tentative trial date around April or May 2025, as per information seen by The Mirror, reports the Mirror.

The same filing also indicates Diddy’s insistence on a speedy trial, while also seeking access to items collected from his Miami and LA homes during March raids. The prosecution claims possession of multiple terabytes of electronic data from devices like phones, laptops, and tablets belonging to Diddy and associates, plus physical evidence from his properties.
