Pedro Pascal didn’t hesitate to drop his pants for a “carnal” scene in his new movie Strange Way of Life.
Directed by Pedro Almodóvar, the upcoming release has been marketed as a gay cowboy film, starring Pascal alongside Ethan Hawke. Pedro is set to play a former gunslinger, Silva, who tracks down his former lover Sheriff Jake. When they reunite after 25 years, sparks fly between the pair once again.
Almodóvar has described his work as “erotic”, explaining to Indie Wire: “The film is full of these moments that are erotic without being explicit sexually or having to do with any kind of physical nakedness. There’s a certain intensity, these pauses, that are very erotic and carnal for me.”

Pascal, meanwhile, didn’t have to work at the “sexual chemistry” between the pair, explaining it just came with the territory. He said: “I don’t imagine sexual chemistry as something to approach. It’s simply a matter of playing the character. Pedro put his trust in us to inhabit the story as he felt so much of the work was accomplished by casting.”
Ethan Hawke, meanwhile, is “always game for a good time”, quipping: “I did a play in 1991 where Steve Zahn and I made out, so, you know!” He admitted that while sex scenes can often feel “soulless”, Pedro’s bare bum shot helped him to “figure out the story he wants to tell”.
The film is only short – a mere 31 minutes in length. But it’s been penned as a response to Brokeback Mountain, and fans have branded the casting “perfect”. One X user quipped: “After watching Pedro Almodóvar’s Strange Way of Life on a huge screen in Joshua Tree whilst laying in bed, you’d have to pry my Vision Pro from my cold, dead hands.”
Another agreed: “Strange Way Of Life is really good. Pedro and Ethan definitely have chemistry. I’m amazed at how cohesive of a story they were able to write for only 30 minutes.” Someone else said: “You get to see Pedro Pascal’s booty! But that’s about it, I don’t think they even kissed in the short.”
It’s not the first time Pedro has stripped off for a saucy role, as he became intimately familiar with sex scenes during his Game of Thrones tenure. He explained in 2014: “They warn you before you audition.” Adding of shooting his first naked scene: “I had already broken the ice with a different scene on my first day of shooting.

“Strangely, the scene that I had to shoot on my first day was a really, really important one in terms of the character’s arc. That was a lot scarier to me than getting naked with a bunch of strangers.”
His audition, however, was branded “amateurish” shot vertically on an iPhone. He explained: “It’s true! I had my friend tape me with my iPhone… There were so many pages. They sent me like 20 something pages to do, which obviously, in the time that they wanted the tape to be turned in, I wasn’t going to be able to memorise all those lines.”
