Phillip Schofield strips naked on Channel 5 show as viewers fume ‘didn’t want to see this’

Phillip Schofield left viewers cringing as he stripped off and skinny-dipped on his Channel 5 show.

The former This Morning presenter returned to TV on Channel 5’s Cast Away, which saw him alone on a desert island off the coast of Madagascar for 10 days as he told his side of the story following his fall from grace last year. But some fans felt they’d got a little more than they bargained for when he flashed his bare bottom during the latest episode.

The show was split over three nights and saw Schofield discussing the scandal, in which he was fired from This Morning and admitted to having an affair with a younger male colleague at ITV. He called the affair “unwise but not illegal”.

Wednesday night’s instalment (2 October) was the last, and saw the presenter lighting a bonfire on the beach and burning a piece of paper containing the names of people who were “toxic” in his life, as he talked about shedding things and moving on. He then said into the camera that he had to get approval for one scene, before slipping out of every stitch he was wearing and running into the ocean totally nude for a cleansing swim.

It’s safe to say viewers were left pretty shocked at the scene. Several posted messages on X saying they hadn’t really needed to see Phil’s naked bottom.

“Why’s Phillip Schofield just ran across my TV naked may I ask?” asked one stunned viewer. “OK nobody needed to see his naked a***,” said someone else.

“Did we really have to see Philip Schofield’s naked bottom?” another asked in disbelief. “The cringe keeps coming,” said another viewer. One said they “could have done without” it.

Another person joked: “Oh Jesus. That’s his audition for the new series of Naked Jungle (formerly with Keith Chegwin) in the bag for Channel 5.” One more added: “#phillipschofield skinny dipping is not something I wanted to see midweek”.

“Did any of us need to see him naked??” asked another viewer, sniping: “Narcissist.”

However, others were supportive of the star, with one fan posting on X: “So Phillip Schofield just burned a list of all the toxic people in his life, in his last Cast Away fire, and then ran naked into the Madagascan sea… Hope Schofe really did find himself on his island. The past is the past.”
