Piers Morgan brands troll ‘heartless moron’ as he rushes to Kate Garraway’s defence

Piers Morgan has been hitting out at trolls in support of Kate Garraway.

The TV presenter has shared his support for his former Good Morning Britain co-star after she released her documentary following Derek Draper’s final days. He praised her for the release before trolls rushed in to dig at the presenter.

Piers wrote on X: “The final Kate Garraway film about her beloved Derek was heart-breaking, inspiring, and utterly maddening. Our care system is so broken, yet staffed by so many wonderful people.

“Let Derek’s legacy be a wholesale reformation of the way we treat our sick/elderly. RIP Derek.”

He also explained that the point of the documentary was to shine a light on the care system and help others who are suffering from its failures. He wrote: “Kate used her profile to magnificently powerful effect and deserves our gratitude not sniping.

“She’s a brilliant woman who’s been through four years of utter hell.”

But while Piers was praising his co-star, one troll took to the social platform to claim it was all a “money making scam”. Piers immediately hit back: “I hope you never suffer what Derek suffered, you heartless f*cking moron.”

It’s not the first time Piers has rushed to Kate’s defence surrounding Derek and her documentaries. Earlier this year he branded Katie Hopkins “despicable” over her remarks.

Katie took to socials shortly after Derek’s passing to say ITV would give Kate a TV show and a book deal to talk about Derek’s death – and people were quick to hit out at her.

She was branded “disgraceful” and “inhumane” while Piers hit out at the “despicable” nature of her comments.

Kate has since responded to the negative comments, telling Susanna Reid and Ed Balls on GMB: “I’ve had a few comments on Twitter saying ‘oh for goodness sake what now?’ And I knew that would happen because people don’t understand and haven’t been through the situation, maybe, that Derek experienced and millions of other do across the country.”

She added: “I get a huge amount of love… people have their views and their free to express them I just knew that some people would say that, but the millions more that it will help, it felt like the right thing to do.”
