Piers Morgan leaving role at TalkTV as he shares plans to focus on new platform

Piers Morgan has revealed that he would be leaving his role as a host at TalkTV in a huge career U-turn.

The controversial broadcaster admitted that he “just decided” to leave normal news channels behind. Instead, he will move his entire platform to video-sharing website YouTube, which will help him reach a more varied demographic.

Morgan, 58, made the decision to leave the station public in a Tweet quoting an interview he did with a journalist by outlet Semafor. Quoting the Tweet, he simply posted: “Some personal news”, sending his fans into a frenzy as they lauded his decision to do digital.

Speaking to the newspaper, Morgan explained that he wanted to capitalise on the digital market and made the tough decision to end his flagship show on the news channel. “There’s something quite anachronistic about a show like mine still trying to create old fashioned TV for a pre-scheduled time slot each night for a relatively small audience — when we’re getting such gigantic audiences digitally,” he added.

Piers also added that he was gradually becoming more “frustrated” that the show was making a TV-style source for news when the vast majority of his audience were not engaging with it and instead focusing on the digital side of his show. He beamed that a recent interview with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was seen by 50,000 people on TV but by almost five times as many online.

The broadcaster already has amassed a huge number of followers on his social platforms, with his Youtube channel already gathering over 2.3 million subscribers since he launched his platform in 2022. He also has been able to get influential celebrities and politicians alike, including Donald Trump and Cristiano Ronaldo.

After making the news public, many of his fans gushed over Piers, commending him for the move. “Good decision as TalkTV is trash!” one fan wrote.

“Information is transforming and digital is taking over conventional channels – great move,” penned another. Whilst a third user beamed: “Exciting! Can’t wait for more YouTube content!”

Tristan Tate, the brother of Andrew Tate, added his own thoughts, offering his advice to Morgan. “I’d back the whole channel up on Rumble if I were you – cancel culture is out of control. That aside wishing you luck,” he said.

Morgan’s move comes as he came under fire after admitting he would “dismember” Prince Harry. In a hate-fuelled rant about the royal, he said that he would “tear him limb from limb” before going on to “incinerate him”.
