A former Russian Bachelor star and Playboy model has died aged 31 while on the waiting list for a life-saving lung transplant.
Veronika Murashkina, who shot to fame on the fifth season of The Bachelor in Russia, had been battling a severe lung disease. After being involved in a car crash in 2020 that left her bedridden and weakened her immune system, she was placed on an urgent transplant list but devastatingly died on October 18 just days before the surgery could be performed.
A friend revealed to local press: “After the serious accident, her leg was literally put back together piece by piece. She was treated for a long time, stayed in clinics and recovered.
“It seemed that her troubles were finally in the past, but then a new one came when the lung disease hit her. Veronika was on the waiting list for a transplant, but she did not live to see it.”
Veronika’s rise to fame came after she tried to win over actor Ilya Glinnikov on The Bachelor, and later graced the pages of Playboy magazine, reports the Mirror US.
In a heartbreaking twist of fate back in 2020, Veronika was involved in a chilling car crash that completely turned her life upside down. The beauty model was heading home to see her loved ones when a drunk driver careened out of control, ploughing into Veronika and her pals.
She faced a gruelling number of months in the hospital, clinging to life, following the terrifying ordeal. The smash-up left her with a severely injured leg, and not long after, her immune system took a major hit.
It spiralled from there until she contracted a lung disease, leaving her fighting for every breath. Tragically, this catastrophic collision put an abrupt halt to Veronika’s modelling days. Emotional tributes are flooding in as fans reel from the news.
One heartbroken fan penned on social media: “Thats hard to take.” Another chimed in, expressing their condolences: “I’m sorry to hear that. The loss of any individual, especially someone in the public eye, can be quite impactful.”
