Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus looked unrecognisable as she wowed in a plunging red gown on a night out.
The All This Time hitmaker, who shot to fame after winning the singing competition in 2003, has ditched her trademark blonde hair for a neon red look, and showed off her shrinking waist as she posed with her husband. Michelle donned a scarlet dress emblazoned with gold sequins, posing with one hand on her hip and slipping an ornate silver choker around her throat.
The star opted for a bright red lip to match her outfit and curled her shoulder-length bob into elegant waves while grinning at the camera. She captioned her snap: “The Nimmos were out out on Saturday night!”

Michelle, who married her husband Jeff Nimmo back in 2017, cosied up to him in a bar for what looked to be a 40th birthday party. Jeff rocked a pastel blue blazer with a patterned paisley shirt underneath, slipping into grey slacks as he held a beer in one hand.
They married at a lavish ceremony in Lochaber after a two-year romance, and Jeff popped the question during a trip to the Canary Islands. Michelle explained on Instagram at the time: “Just back from the most incredible week of my life in Tenerife. The sun shone, the cocktails flowed and my darling Jeff got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!”
The pair are proud parents to sons Harry and Nicholas, with their second child born in 2022 and first in 2020. Michelle was battling Covid-19 throughout her second pregnancy, but thankfully announced: “Goodbye January! Although I don’t know how any other month this year could top you as you’re the month we welcomed the newest addition to our family. Please say hello to Nicholas Peter Nimmo.”
She added: “You are so perfect in every way and we’re just so madly in love with you. Thank you for completing our family and our world. Love Mummy, daddy and Harry.”
It comes just months after Michelle made some emotional confessions about her time on Pop Idol during a Loose Women appearance. She revealed her dad kept a scrapbook full of news articles about his daughter, explaining: “One of the first articles that popped out said at the top ‘Can Michelle sing? Yes. Is she going to be a pop star? But come on lads, you wouldn’t would you?’

“And that’s where it went. I was 23.” Michelle said she felt “such shame” at how she was treated in the press at the time. She added: “It was really difficult. I don’t know why I’m getting emotional now – it was 20 years ago!”
Her debut album The Meaning of Love soared to number three in the charts despite outward pressure, and Michelle continues to show off her incredible vocal range at events and during her various appearances on BBC Scotland.
