Real Housewives star dead at 37 as friend makes devastating announcement

A Real Housewives star has sadly died.

Matthew Byars, a talent manager who appeared on The Real Housewives of Potomac, has passed away at 37. He was introduced on the show by star Karen Huger during its third season.

Following his death, his best friend Melissa Gorga, a star of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, released a heartfelt statement. She wrote: “Matt – Why didn’t you tell me Matt? I’m heartbroken. Your personality was infectious. Your jokes – you always had them. You should have done stand up – I know it was your dream. My heart hurts Matt. Because earlier this week you didn’t tell me. I know life was tough – I know – Thank you for bringing me my very 1st performance of ‘ON DISPLAY’ – you and I – WE ARE LOYAL.”

Matthew was part of a notable “press conference” scene on the show, where Karen Huger addressed rumours about her finances, reports the Mirror.

In a 2019 interview with The Daily Dash, Karen revealed she met Matthew as a teenager and had mentored him, earning her the nickname “Mama Karen” in Potomac. The reality TV circuit is reeling from a recent loss, with heartfelt tributes pouring in.

Karen Huger was close to Matthew, having described their bond as “true friends” and even considered him “like family”. Matthew got screen time on The Real Housewives of Potomac when Karen needed moral support, leaving her co-stars scratching their heads about his identity—Ashley Darby initially mistook him for Karen’s lawyer, but he actually popped up in several episodes across the season.

The Shahs of Sunset star Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi felt moved to post: “Noooo! I’ve known Matt since the beginning of being on TV as well. I did all my bookings around the nation together with him. What an amazing soul and kind human! ” Whereas Rachel Fuda from Real Housewives of New Jersey shared her grief, stating: “Such a deep loss. So sorry Melis. May he rest in peace and never be forgotten.”

Digital influencer Peter Panos penned, “He was such a sweet human being.”
