Russell Brand has broken his silence and spoken about the numerous sexual assault allegations made against him.
Former Big Brother’s Big Mouth presenter Russell, 48, was the subject of a huge exposé produced by both Channel 4 and The Times. The resulting documentary, Russell Brand: In Plain Sight, aired in September, and spoke to five women who made claims that Brand had assaulted them physically, mentally and sexually.
At the time, Brand vehemently denied the “very serious” allegations made against him and added that all the sexual encounters he had were consensual. Later, after the documentary aired, London’s Metropolitan Police said they had opened an investigation into Russell’s behaviour, after several women had come forward with historic claims of assault and abuse.

Now, Russell has appeared on American broadcaster Tucker Carlson’s show on Twitter to address the situation publicly. In the 45-minute interview, Russell continued to deny any wrongdoing.
“Of course I deny any allegations […] that have been advanced,” he said in the interview. He also said: “I reject the allegations in the strongest possible terms.”
The former actor disclosed that at the time the exposé against him came out, his new-born child was in the middle of vital heart surgery. At the age of just 12 weeks old, Russell told Carson that the documentary could not have come at a worse time.
Describing his life at the time, Brand explained to Tucker that he was living his best life and taking advantage of every opportunity. “I put myself in a vulnerable position by being very promiscuous,” he said.
“Attacks like this, accused of what I consider to be the most appalling crimes, is very painful and hurtful,” Russell added. “But there are consequences to the foolish way I lived in the past.”
With a dedicated fanbase and an added boost in coverage due to the exposé, it was revealed that Brand continues to rake in the money due to his controversial content.
Previously uploading his videos to YouTube, the company suspended his monetisation rights in the wake of the documentary. Since then, Brand has moved to Rumble, a controversial streaming platform that is known for leaning into the right-wing of politics.
As well as this, the Forgetting Sarah Marshall actor also was basing his entire operation from a disused pub in the Oxfordshire town of Pishall. According to the Daily Mail, Brand had told locals in the area that he would turn the pub into a café to benefit the local community, but has since adapted it into a headquarters for his company.
Met Police officers have continued to question the broadcaster for the historic allegations of sexual assault and abuse. In November, the force said that “a man in his 40s attended a police station” which they said was “in relation to three non-recent sexual offences”, with enquiries set to continue.
