Ryan Thomas became a household name after joining the cast of Coronation Street as Jason Grimshaw in December, 2000.
The actor spent 16 years in Weatherfield, before enjoying a brief stint on Neighbours and entering the Celebrity Big Brother House in 2018 – a series in which he famously won after being accused by co-star Roxanne Pallett of punching her. After quitting the acting industry after admitting he’d “lost the bug”.
The 39-year old is now back on screen – starring in ITV’s Dancing On Ice with his professional skate partner, Amani Fancy. Naturally, having spent almost a quarter-of-a-century in the public eye, Ryan’s personal life has hit the headlines on many occasions – most notably during his relationships with former Corrie co-star Tina O’Brien and ex TOWIE cast member Lucy Mecklenburgh.

Now, we look back on the highs and lows of the dad-of-three’s love life beginning with Tina who he met on set at the beginning of his acting career.
Tina O’Brien romance and feud

Ryan’s relationship with co-star Tina began in controversial circumstances. The pair hooked in 2003 up just months after Sarah Platt star Tina had split from Bruno Langley – Ryan’s on-screen brother who played Todd Grimshaw.
They went on to have a daughter together in 2018 named Scarlett, but broke up just a year later, with Tina claiming Ryan had admitted she “didn’t do it for him anymore”. Devastated, she confessed to new! magazine at the time: “He said he didn’t love me any more. He said I didn’t do it for him any more. Those were his words. He said he didn’t want the responsibility of a relationship with me.”
Despite co-parenting their daughter, Tina and Ryan have had some public spats in the years since their bitter split.
A romance too far

Shortly after departing the cobbles in 2016, Ryan was soon the subject of another split – this time from girlfriend Lana Martin. The pair had entered into a long-distance relationship in February that year after meeting on a night out in Manchester, but broke up seven months later.
At the time it was reported the couple had struggled to spend time together, with marketing consultant Lana tied to her work commitments in Edinburgh. With Ryan living in London it proved an 800-mile round trip just to spend time together.
A source told The Sun following the parting of ways: “Ryan and Lana really tried hard to find time for each other, but they both lead busy lives and became more and more distanced from each other – literally. It’s a shame but it’s totally amicable. Lana was there to help him adjust to life after Corrie. He’ll always be grateful for that.”

On-off with Lucy Mecklenburgh

Ryan and Lucy met in 2017 as they appeared together on Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls. They reportedly split in June 2018, however, following an explosive row. A pal of the pair told the Daily Star at the time: “Ryan and Lucy have been a really lovely couple and things had been great between them. It’s a real shock.”
The source continued: “They had a massive row this week and called it quits on the spot, which will come as a massive surprise to everyone who knows them because they’ve seemed so loved-up. Right up until last weekend everything was perfect.”
They appeared to settle their differences soon afterwards though and by April 2019 were engaged after Ryan popped the question during a holiday to Italy.
