Sacked Strictly star Graziano Di Prima ‘calls in top lawyers to sue the BBC’

Graziano Di Prima is reportedly taking legal action against the BBC.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star was fired from the competition show back in July after claims he verbally and physically abused Zara McDermott, the former Love Island star that competed as his partner during the 2023 series.

The Sun has reported that the professional dancer has “called in top lawyers to sue the BBC”. Mail Online wrote: “Barristers from Whitestone Chamber have ‘already read thousands of text and WhatsApp messages’ and believe the Italian ‘could sue for unfair dismissal’.”

An inside source has said: “Graziano feels he wasn’t allowed a fair opportunity to give his side of the story so has been heartened to hear the legal team think he has a case for unfair dismissal. They’ve also looked at his BBC contract and believe there are grounds to sue. He is weighing up his options but remains hopeful he can clear his name.”

Graziano was paired with Zara for the 2023 series

According to reports, concerns were raised about Graziano back in 2023 but Strictly bosses only issued the star with warnings. A video of Graziano allegedly hitting Zara landed in Strictly staff’s laps nine months after the complaint was filed, which reportedly resulted in Graziano’s firing.

Di Prima took to Instagram to address the incident and wrote: “I deeply regret the events that led to my departure from Strictly. My intense passion and determination to win might have affected my training regime.”

It is alleged that Graziano verbally and physically abused McDermott

“Respecting the BBC HR process, I understand it’s best for the show that I step away. While there are aspects of this story involving external influences that I can’t discuss at this time, I remain committed to being strong for my family and friends. I wish the Strictly family and the BBC nothing but success in the future.”

The former Strictly pro is reportedly consulting “top lawyers”

Graziano signed off with: “I also want to thank everyone who has supported my career, both professionally and personally. When the time is right, I will share my story.” The former Strictly Come Dancing star joined the show back in 2018 and along with Zara, famous partners include Vick Hope, Judi Love and Kym Marsh.
