Actress Emerald Fennell had all of her dreams come true after we made her a Daily Star pin-up.
She was in tears of laughter when we listened to her plea to appear in Britain’s best newspaper in a bikini. We fulfilled her wish – revealed on comedian Kathy Burke’s Where There’s A Will There’s A Wake podcast – to have her head added onto a babe wearing a Union Jack swimsuit.
The Crown star, 38, said: “Oh my God! I need a copy!” Emerald, who wrote, directed and starred in psychological thriller Saltburn last year, had earlier told Kathy she’d like her obituary to appear on the Star’s front page with “a really great headline”.

She added: “And then a really sexy pic of me from like 10 years ago. Like, a kind of misleadingly hot pic. If they want to superimpose my face onto like, a lovely lit lasses bod in a Union Jack bikini, all’s the better.”
Emerald continued: “My favourite thing about Daily Star is the like tenuous link to Diana, perhaps some kind of alien. So that’s what I’d like. It would be some kind of conspiracy theory, a lovely lass died in her prime. Because I’m like quite long past my prime, so they can just, you know, they can make it up. They can give me my age, my playing age of 22.”
Kevin and Perry star Kathy joked in response: “Oh fantastic, and The Daily Star will oblige I’m sure.” And we did!
Joking about her demise further, Emerald said she’d like to bow out in style – by being trampled on to death in the Black Friday sales. “I thought about this for quite a long time, and I was trying to think of the likeliest scenario,” she explained. “And for me, the likeliest scenario is being one of those people who is trampled to death during the Black Friday sales that you see on the internet.
“It was like people getting crushed up against the walls and that’s what I think will happen to me because I, because I’m sober and I don’t have many avenues for my addictive personality anymore. For me, it’s shopping. So, if I’m going to go. It’s likely that I will go in a shopping related incident.”

Kathy who became one of the biggest female stars of 90s British comedy with her roles in French and Saunders and and Harry Enfield & Chums then asked Emerald to describe her ideal funeral. “Well, I thought Vegas, Little Chapel of Love. Have Elvis do it,” Emerald said.
“I really, really don’t want anyone to be sad. I just can’t bear the idea of dying. I don’t want to die, so I just want to make it as fun for everyone as possible.”
