Saturday Night Takeaway may not be off our screens for as long as fans think.
Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly announced last year that the ITV primetime show will be rested “for a little while” after the current series draws to an end this weekend.
The broadcaster has revealed that the last episode of the the 20th series will air for a whopping two hours from 7pm on Saturday, April 13 as the Geordie duo bow out in style.

Girls Aloud, Kasier Chiefs, Holly Willoughby and Simon Cowell are just a few huge names will will feature on the grand finale and according to culture and brand expert Rochelle White, of Rochelle White Agency, it may not be the last we see of the show.
She told Daily Star: “I think the show has been successful among many viewers and generations – great family entertainment TV show. But, they could be having a break to rethink the shows format and maybe limit when it is aired. For example, it could look to come back around the holiday times like Christmas and have the odd few shows like ‘specials’ throughout the year.
“It could be to work around schedules and to keep people interested. Sometimes, taking a break or mini hiatus could work. I think the show could come back, but maybe more towards the end of the year.” The show first launched all the way back in 2002 before it was rested in 2009. Ant and Decthen revived and revamped the show in 2013 and it’s been a staple of ITV’s Saturday offering ever since.
Speaking last year about resting Saturday Night Takeaway, Ant said: “We love making Saturday Night Takeaway, but reaching the milestone of 20 series seemed like the perfect time to pause for a little while and catch our breath.” Dec added: “We still have a momentous 20th series to look forward to first so we will do our best to go out (for now) with a bang in 2024.” They continued: “The show takes up such a lot of our year. We just feel we need a little bit of a breather.”
