Sex Pistols star says ‘it’s about time’ Oasis came up with own ideas after comeback

Sex Pistols legend Glen Matlock has made a cheeky swipe about Oasis.

The music icon spoke exclusively to Daily Star as he promoted his solo tour which will kick off in Norwich on November 15th. The Pistols also decided to reunite recently and went on a tour earlier this year, although with a new frontman.

So Glen is extremely familiar with band drama and putting all of that aside to come back together. However, when asked what he thinks about Oasis reforming, Glen said “It’s about time they come up with their own stuff.”

The musician added: “Being an older bloke I tend to see where they borrowed ideas from and I think they need to come up with some of their own ideas. But at least they admit it, everybody nicks and borrows ideas but the trick is to kind of make it look like you haven’t done that but there you go.”

“Good luck to them, I think Liam Gallagher’s voice and personality is great. They’ve had a lot of success in the whole Manchester scene. He also revealed another bugbear he had with the group – as he claimed they’ve affected how he shops.

Glen quipped: “You know that whole baggy thing? I’m annoyed at them because they made it acceptable to make sleeves long and it made it harder for a bloke like me to get a good shirt so I hold them responsible entirely, like clothes for orangutans.”

Glen also touched upon how he felt about the band getting back together as they toured with new frontman Frank Carter, plus OGs Steve Jones and Paul Cook.

He said: “We’ve been touring this year, it’s been great. We have been touring with a new guy, who is great, he’s got the right spirit. He comes over a bit more affable than the other bloke. It’s not the same thing but we don’t pretend it’s the same thing.

“When you’ve been in the game as long as I have, nobody is really better or worse than anyone else, but the thing is they do kind of play like their personality. When you work with different people, everyone brings something different to the table. It makes it a little more interesting and fresh when you play with different musicians.”

Glen will be touring the UK later this year with his band Chris Muto, Jim Lowe and Neal X. Starting in Norwich on 15th November and ending at London’s Dingwalls on November 30th. More info & tickets via www.GlenMatlock.co.uk
