Simon Cowell has teased that he and Cheryl are planning a new TV project together.
The TV and music mogul previously worked with the Girls Aloud beauty on the X Factor, where she had a seat on the judging panel from 2008 to 2011. And Cheryl, 40, also appeared on the US version of the singing contest.
Simon has now hinted that they’ve got a new television project in the works – although he wouldn’t say what it was. He told the Sunday Mirror the project was in the “very early stages” but that he doesn’t like to share more details of shows until everyone has signed on the dotted line.

The star spilled the beans after he and Cheryl both featured on the final episode of ITV hit Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, which the presenters are resting for a bit. He told the Sunday Mirror: “Cheryl was brilliant on the show, great to work with, really good fun – and there might be something coming up where we might be working together, funnily enough.”
The Britain’s Got Talent judge, 64, played his cards close to his chest and didn’t let many details slip. But he did say it wouldn’t be a return of X Factor, which has been rumoured for a while.
“I can’t tell you much at the moment,” he said. “I don’t think it will be on a streaming service, this one, and it won’t beX Factor. But it will be TV because Cheryl is great on TV.”
Calling the brunette “fantastic”, he went on: “The project I’m working with Cheryl on is in very early stages, and until it’s signed I’m really superstitious. Once it’s signed I couldn’t care less, but until then I try to keep things confidential.”
Simon has also hinted that it could be a talent show that he and Cheryl are reunited on. He didn’t confirm anything, but the man behind some of TV’s biggest talent show juggernauts did make it clear that he thought there was still a need for programmes like it.
He explained that there was currently such a crowded marketplace online that appearing on talent shows made it easier for people to stand out. “What these shows do is you get to see a much bigger audience,” he said.
“I would argue there is a bigger need for these shows than 10, 20 years ago and I genuinely didn’t think that would happen.”
