Star Wars and Gremlins star Mark Dodson dies ‘suddenly’ on the way to meet fans

Gremlins and Star Wars voice actor Mark Dodson has died aged 64.

Mark Dodson, was most famous for being the voice of characters in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Gremlins. The actor tragically died after suffering a “massive heart attack” in his sleep.

He was due to attend the Horror Con in Indiana, but sadly never made it to the convention. His daughter Ciara, has since confirmed the sad news of his passing.

Mark’s heartbroken daughter Ciara, detailed that her dad loved nothing more than attending conventions with fans. In an emotional tribute she said he “never ceased making her proud”.

Mark suffered a “massive heart attack” before attending a convention with fans

Ciara vowed for her father’s legacy and spirit to live on through his children and grandchildren. According to TMZ the actor was found in his hotel room in Indiana.

The voice actor had already jetted to Indiana for the event which was due to happen this weekend. Mark, who voiced the Gremlins had even checked into his room before suffering and sudden “massive heart attack” while sleeping, reports the publication.

Mark’s career rocketed after he got his big Hollywood break in 1983. He landed the role of Salacious Crumb in Return of the Jedi.

His signature high-pitch tone was something to be marvelled and caught the attention of other casting directors too. Mark also took on the voice role of Gremlins Mogwai, a year after his Star Wars success.

Other claims to fame include his work on Gremlins 2: The New Batch in 1990. 1985 Day of the Dead, before returning to screens once again for Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015.

His voice over talent stretched beyond films with his distinct sound being noted on adverts, video games and even radio. Mark’s representative told TMZ that the actors “unique voice and sound to each character and script he touched.”
