Strictly judge breaks silence to back Giovanni Pernice after ‘abuse’ claims

A Strictly judge has broken his silence and decided to back Giovanni Pernice during ‘abuse’ claims.

Anton Du Beke has defended his TV pal after seemingly ‘breaking ranks’ after a cloak of silence has fallen over pro cast members. This comes after three of Giovanni’s past celeb dance partners have come forward to complain about his conduct.

But Anton appears to be strengthening his ties with the star after announcing their tour together. In three weeks time, the ‘Anton and Giovanni: Together – The Live Tour’ will be kicking off on June 14 at the Beck Theatre in Hayes, West London. The pair will be dancing around the UK for the next two months.

Their final stop will be on July 21 at Salford’s The Lowry. The duo have built a better bond with one another after both landing a travel show with one another titled Anton & Giovanni’s Adventures in Sicily.

The programme aired on BBC earlier this year and followed Giovanni taking Anton to his hometown of Sicily. The tour announcement follows the BBC’s choice to probe into the complaints against the pro dancer.

Three of his ex dance partners have all stepped forward with Amanda Abbington and Laura Whitmore believed to be two of them. Giovanni has since quit the BBC series in light of the allegations – and has vowed to clear his name.

However, Korina Travis, a professional dancer who has previously worked alongside Giovanni in the past, decided to share her thoughts about him. Korina said: “I’ve known him for years as a fellow competitor and he has done horrendous things to me.

“I will not speak about my experiences with him but I’m glad the world is seeing him for who he truly is. I’ll leave it at that.”

Although, the dancer continues to plead his innocence and share a statement with fans that read: “To my dear fans, you will be as surprised as I am that allegations have been made about my dance teaching methods in the media this week.

“Of course, I reject any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour, and I look forward to clearing my name.” Those who have followed my journey on Strictly Come Dancing over the last decade will know that I am passionate and competitive.

“No one is more ambitious for my dance partners than me. I have always striven to help them be the very best dancers they can be. This has always come from a place of love and wanting to win – for me and my dance partners. Thank you all once again for your continued love and support!”
