Strictly star Amy Dowden to be cheered on by people who saved her life on this week’s show

Strictly star Amy Dowden will be cheered on by nurses who helped save her life tomorrow night.

The pro dancer, 34, has invited the NHS heroes to be in the studio audience to thank them for looking after her when battled breast cancer.

They’ll get to see her do a routine with celebrity partner JB Gill, 37, on the famous dance floor.

Amy said: “My oncology nurses are coming to be in the audience. They’re ones that gave me chemo. They are massive fans of the show.

“A year ago they were by my side when I was really struggling and now they’re going to be sat watching me dancing.

“It’s because of them and the amazing work that they do that I’ve been able to get back to doing what I love.

“Having them in the audience is going to be a very proud moment for me. I’m excited.”

During her cancer treatment, Amy saw how much joy Strictly gives people.

She said: “When I was at the oncology unit last year, there was such a buzz when Strictly was on. Everyone was talking about it.

“When you’re going through cancer, it gives you something to look forward to on those long, lonely winter days.

“Seeing that made me so proud to be part of the show.”
