Toyah Willcox has thrown her weight behind Chris McCausland in the Strictly Come Dancing stakes, after lobbing a cheeky jibe at her “good friend”.
The pop icon, 66, and her dance floor partner Neil Jones sadly waved goodbye to the glitz of the Strictly ballroom at the weekend, landing in the bottom two opposite Paul Merson and Karen Hauer, only to be unanimously outvoted by the judges.
Chatting on Strictly’s spin-off It Takes Two, Toyah was probed by host Fleur East for nuggets of wisdom for those still in the running, responding with the tongue-in-cheek tip: “If you don’t want to do a dance-off, get rid of Chris.”

Following an awkward pause, she followed up with the ominous: “You’re all going to face the dance-off.”
At this point, Neil weighs in with a laugh: “I think she has chosen her winner.”
Toyah took to social media to iron out any “confusion” stirred up by her remark.
Clearing up the talk, she posted on X: “Just to clarify and to clear up any confusion that’s flying around. My good friend @chrismccausland, is my favourite to win this year, I think he is inspiring and brilliant, he has worked so hard and I wish him nothing but love! Toyah.”
Signing off her Strictly stint in conversation with Tess Daly, Toyah spilled that it had been nothing short of a “fantastic” journey, doling out high praise for her “great” partner Neil. “It’s been the best two months of my life, it has been fantastic. I have enjoyed every second. And you (Neil) have been phenomenal, thank you so much.
“It was immediate, it had to be Neil. I felt so comfortable and safe. You’re a great teacher, you’re a great friend as well. You’ve just given me a new zest for life, that’s the most valuable thing I’ve come away with.”
