Summer House’s biggest feuds – gay hookup, cancelled wedding and drug drama

Summer House is all about friends having fun and keeping the party alive.

But over the years, the cast have been involved in some major feuds – some that could never be resolved. The likes of Kyle Cooke, Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke have been on the show since it started in 2017, but even they have had their tiffs.

Then there’s former cast member Hannah Berner, whose Netflix comedy special was recently released, who left the show after things turned sour with her then-friend Amanda Batula.

Much of the drama on the Bravo show revolves around relationships. Hannah and Luke Gulbranson went from lovers to enemies, and married couple Kyle and Amanda have had their share of rows over the years.

But when real-life emotions are involved, tensions are often high. There have been rows about past hook-ups, work partnerships gone wrong, and even arguments about drug use.

One thing is for sure, though – it’s incredibly entertaining. The cast – Kyle, Lindsay, Carl, Amanda, Paige DeSorbo, Ciara Miller, Gabby Prescod, Jesse Solomon and West Wilson – are currently filming the latest season.

But until that airs next year, we’re taking a look at some of the show’s biggest ever feuds.

Carl Radke vs Stephen McGee

During the second season, friends Carl and Stephen hit a snag in their friendship. It all blew up when Stephen, who is openly gay, outed Carl’s past experience with a man.

“You said to me, sitting on a couch right next to me, that the best head you ever got was from a guy,” Stephen said. Carl spoke of how betrayed he felt afterwards.

He said on Watch What Happens Live: “I’m a straight man – very confident in my sexuality.” He went on: “Stephen is actually one of my first gay friends.

“I told him something – yeah, I didn’t really know how to communicate it to him, and I made more of a joke than I should have – but I told him very private information about something happening to me when I was 22. It took me 10 years to actually come to grips and share it with someone.”

Carl added: “I shared it with one of my gay friends, and somehow that got permeated to other people finding out, and here I am, having a conversation about it.

“Honestly, I felt like he betrayed my trust. You guys will have to tune in next week and see how it all unfolds — but I’m a straight guy, very confident in myself, and unfortunately crazy s— happens to guys sometimes.”

Stephen was dropped from the show after season two. He previously said he lost touch with his co-stars afterwards.

Amanda Batula vs Hannah Berner

In 2021, Hannah revealed she had quit the show after she fell out with her former friend Amanda. Hannah joined the show in season three and had been close with Amanda.

But in season five, things got heated as Hannah continued to bash Amanda’s relationship with her now-husband Kyle. Things got so tense, that Amanda threw a glass at Hannah during one argument.

Things didn’t get better between them, with Hannah storming off the season five reunion set due to the feud. She is still close with co-star Paige DeSorbo and recently saw her comedy special added to Netflix’s catalogue, but neither of them invited the other to their weddings.

Lindsay Hubbard vs Danielle Olivera

OG cast member Lindsay had always been close with Danielle. But in season seven, things became difficult.

When Carl and Lindsay got engaged, Danielle didn’t congratulate them. Their friendship soon soured, and it wasn’t looking good.

But when season eight came around they were back on good terms. And Danielle was there as a shoulder to cry on when Lindsay and Carl ended their relationship.

However, Danielle confirmed she would not be returning to season nine.

Kyle Cooke vs Carl Radke

The best of friends, nobody saw it coming when Kyle and Carl fell out. Summer House has documented the rise of Kyle’s business – Loverboy, an alcohol brand.

Eventually, Carl started working with Kyle on the start-up – but it was clear business and friendship didn’t always mix. Carl went on to quit, but Kyle didn’t take it lying down.

Kyle accused Carl of turning up to work “so coked out that he didn’t bring his computer to work”, while also showing up “drunk”.

Luckily, they managed to fix their friendship. Carl has also worked on his drug and drink issues, and has been sober since January 2021.

Hannah Berner vs Luke Gulbranson

Things looked rosy for Hannah and Luke in season four – with them spending plenty of alone time in bed together, which the cameras caught. But it soon blew up.

Their relationship turned sour when Hannah claimed they were dating, while Luke described it as a fling. Luke then started a flirtationship with Ciara Miller when she joined in season five, which further upset Hannah.

But after watching it all play out, Ciara declared herself Team Hannah. Luke also admitted he had some regrets about how it all unfolded.

He told US Weekly: “I wish that in the Hannah situation that I had asked more questions to her friends, like Amanda and Paige, on what she was telling them. Because what she would tell them was the complete opposite of what I would tell her. It was insane.”

Carl Radke vs Lindsay Hubbard

Carl and Lindsay have been on the biggest journey during Summer House. They have both been on since season one, and their friendship went from strength to strength.

Things heated up when it was revealed that Carl had “fingered” Lindsay – but they hadn’t kissed. Eventually, they decided to give dating a try.

It all seemed to be going well, and at the end of season seven, Carl proposed. Lindsay replied: “A thousand times, yes!”

By the time of season eight, though, it was clear all was not rosy. The season showed them planning their wedding, while also arguing almost every week.

Lindsay accused Carl of breaking his sobriety, and despite trying to make it work, things were still tense.

After season eight wrapped filming, the cameras were brought back in as Carl ended the relationship with Lindsay.

To make matters worse, they will both be returning for season nine. However, Lindsay is now in a new relationship – and is pregnant!

Danielle Olivera vs Ciara Miller

In season six, things erupted between Ciara and Danielle. Danielle got dragged into an argument between Ciara and Lindsay, while Southern Charm’s Austen Kroll was also involved due to his romances with the two of them.

As things got heated, Danielle told Ciara to “sit the f*** down”. Ciara did not take kindly to it and threw a glass of wine at Danielle.

Members of the filming crew stepped in to separate them before things could get even worse. Ciara showed remorse, admitting: “I should not have reacted that way.”

Things continued to be cordial between the duo in the following seasons after they put their differences aside, but they were never the besties fans may have wanted them to be.

Kyle Cooke and Carl Radke vs Luke Gulbranson

In season five, things between the boys completely blew up. Kyle and Carl wanted to speak to Luke about how he had been treating the women in the house.

Things majorly escalated and it went from an argument into a rough altercation. Luckily, they put it behind them and are still friends now.
