The Chase’s Bradley Walsh slams team for huge error as they lose ‘good’ player

Bradley Walsh fumed at the team after he claimed they handed out poor advice.

During Thursday’s instalment (March 28) of The Chase, Bradley welcomed four new contestants who hoped to leave with some cash. The first player to take on Jenny Ryan was Dick.

The 60-year-old got the team off to a great start, answering eight questions correctly in the cash builder. Taking £8,000 to the table, Dick opted to stick with this sum in hopes of making it back to the final chase.

And that’s exactly what he did. Following Dick was Jenny, and despite admitting she was nervous, the 71-year-old also impressed Bradley with her performance. Jenny also couldn’t be tempted by the higher or lower offer and stuck with £7,000.

Bradley hit out at his team after they lost a “good” player

She made it through to the final chase, taking the team’s total to £15,000 with still two contestants left to play. Following Jenny was the youngest player of the evening, Evie. The 19-year-old proved she had the knowledge as she answered six questions correctly in the cash builder.

Jenny tried to tempt Evie with a low offer of -£2,000 and a high offer of £65,000. Turning to her teammates for advice on what to go for, they all suggested Evie go for the £6,000. Matthew said: “I think £6,000 is a fantastic amount of money.” Jenny agreed, adding: “£6,000 is a great amount of money so please come back here.”

Dick echoed his team’s thoughts, telling Evie: “I think you could get several cars for £65,000 but £6,000 will do us nicely.” The student admitted her dad would “disown” her if she went for the lower offer and opted for the £6,000. The Vixen simply responded: “We’ll see.”

Evie was told by her co-stars to stick with the middle offer

Sadly for Evie, she was caught by Jenny before making it home. Bradley branded Evie a “good player” before admitting he would’ve been caught way before she was. After Evie walked off the set, Jenny said: “Evie would’ve been potentially a great teammate in that final chase so I think the team might be regretting not advising her to go for the low offer – and so will her dad.”

Bradley agreed, noting that if Evie took the lower offer and Matthew still managed to get six or seven grand in his cash builder, the team could be fighting to win £20,000 between them. He fumed: “I think that advice was not good.”

Matthew took the team’s overall total to £19,000 and the trio answered 21 questions correctly in the final chase. They executed one pushback, but the team were caught with seven seconds remaining.

The team missed out on winning £19,000

Bradley couldn’t resist taking another swipe at the players as he quipped: “Evie. That’s all I’m going to say. Evie.” Jenny echoed his point, telling the team: “A full house was the difference there.

“You see players time and again saying, ‘I would never take the lower offer’ but it’s there for a reason. It’s a tactical game. I think Evie would have put it out of my reach.”

Bradley made a dig at the team for one final time as he closed the show by saying: “Almost a perfect game from the team but they missed one component and that’s a fourth player to make up a full house. It’s all about Evie.”
