McFly’s Danny Jones was crowned the 2024 winner of The Masked Singer as he was unmasked as Piranha.
The hugely popular ITV series returned at the start of this year and on Saturday night (February 17) fans saw Cricket, Bigfoot and Piranha take to the stage to battle it out to steal the win. Each celebrity contestant performed their hearts out on stage in a bid to impress judges Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora, Mo Gilligan and special guest Rob Brydon.
After wiping the floor with Cricket and Bigfoot, the colourful fish stole the show with their rendition with Celine Dion’s 1996 hit song It’s All Coming Back To Me Now. As the crowd chanted ‘Take it off’, Piranha was unmasked as the 37-year-old McFly bandmember.

The judges were shocked to see the dad-of-one under the mask, but it didn’t take long before they showered the hitmaker with compliments. Rita gushed: “You have one of the best voices I have ever heard. Danny I want an album this year!”

The Welsh comic added: “If we’ve learnt anything it’s time to dump those losers and go it alone. Those guys have been holding you back.” It was at this point that Danny cheekily agreed: “They’ve been holding me back all this time!”
The musician went on to reveal how much he enjoyed being a part of the show, which has allowed him to discover a higher pitch in his voice. He confessed: “I can sing even higher now. There’s a whole new tone to my voice.”
He went on to share how hard it has been to keep his win a secret from his famous friends and family. The singer confessed: “It’s been very hard and ever more so now I’ve won.

“It’ been really difficult because I get excited by stuff very easily and I’m all in when I do something. I’m meant to be on tour. It’s been very difficult, but that’s part of the fun, isn’t it?
“I think that the boys [in McFly] will be very surprised. I am my own worst enemy, so I’m always like, ‘That wasn’t very good’, so they always build me up. They’ll guess me straight away.”
After watching the big reveal hit the airwaves, fans flooded to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their surprise online. One user penned: “Ahhh Danny Jones has such an amazing voice! #TheMaskedSinger.”

Another agreed: “Well done @itsDannyJones could tell that was you [cry-laughing emoji] #themaskedsinger.” A third fan echoed: “Danny Jones is brilliant as well, and what a voice #themaskedsinger.”
