This Morning chef floored as Dermot O’Leary moves away and refuses to eat meal

Dermot O’Leary refused to eat what a chef served up on This Morning.

The former X Factor presenter, 50, fronted Tuesday’s episode (April 2) of the ITV programme alongside Alison Hammond. The TV duo normally host the show on Friday’s but are at the helm this week while Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard take a break for the holidays.

The presenters were joined in the studio by TV chef Theo Michaels, who served up some Swedish meatballs – similar to the iconic dish available at Ikea. Theo teamed his meatballs with a hefty amount of mashed potato.

He explained: “When serve it at home, just do it on one big platter and everyone can take what they want.” Theo dished up the bed of mash on the plate, admitting it “could get messy” before pouring the meatballs on top of it.

Dermot couldn’t hide his disgust as he squirmed: “No I don’t like it. I don’t like it served like that.”

“Are you joking?” asked Alison as Dermot ushered away from the table. The presenter admitted he’d have the items on two different plates before Alison quipped: “Let’s see if I can separate it then.”

The Big Brother star then moved the mash onto a different plate as a stunned Theo quipped: “Oh get out of it! Dive on in, have some of that.”

“Some people are funny like that,” Alison confessed. Dermot spooned some meatballs onto his plate but quickly stopped Alison from adding anymore sauce to his meal.

Theo questioned whether it was because the ITV host wasn’t a fan of gravy, but Dermot explained that he prefers it on the side.

He finally moved back to the table and was ready to tuck into the meal. “Oh yeah that’s amazing,” he told the chef.

Dermot and Alison will present This Morning for two weeks until Ben and Cat return from their break, with an ITV spokesperson confirming: “Alison and Dermot will front This Morning during this time until Ben and Cat return on Monday 15th April.”
