This Morning fans issue same complaint minutes into show as they fume over ‘lazy’ casting

This Morning fans issued the same complaint just minutes into the show.

Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond presented Wednesday’s instalment (April 3) of the ITV programme and were joined in the studio by a dog named Buddy. The adorable Labrador will provide specialist support to a family affected by autism.

Dermot, 50, couldn’t resist playing with Buddy as he doted over him. Meanwhile Alison sat back on the as the duo spoke to Buddy’s trainer.

As the segment continued, the former X Factor presenter ended up on the floor as Buddy showed off his talents. Dermot’s interest in the pooch made fans question whether Alison was the right person to replace Paul O’Grady as the host of For the Love of Dogs.

Sharing their thoughts on social media, one wrote: “Alison really is the least dog friendly person ever. Dermot is more so, why did ITV give her Paul’s show? Lazy casting again at ITV.”

Another fumed: “ITV picked Alison because her management team convinced them that she’s what everyone wants, she’s a star blah blah blah Even the Bakeoff has hit, because she doesn’t fit with the viewers The fact that she’s not interested in dogs is neither here nor there.”

A third agreed: “I do like Alison but why she was given the For the Love of Dogs gig really is beyond me. She went no where near that dog!!” Someone else asked: “Dermot is spending more time with the dog than Alison! Why isn’t he the new presenter of For the Love of Dogs?”

“At this point Dermot would of been a better choice for the love of dogs,” echoed a fifth. Meanwhile another claimed: “Alison hates dogs. No amount of bringing Buddy on will convince us otherwise.”

Alison will replace Paul O’Grady as the new presenter of For the Love of Dogs

Of landing the role as the ITV show’s new presenter, Alison said: “I am very aware that I can never replace the iconic Paul in this wonderful series, but if I can continue to shine a light on the brilliant work done at Battersea and help to tell the stories of these beautiful dogs, then it will be an absolute privilege to give it my all.

“I can’t wait to share the joy of their searches for new loving forever homes and hopefully make lots of furry friends of my own along the way!”
