Viewers of This Morning were split in their opinions on presenter Cat Deeley’s choice of attire on Tuesday morning (March 19) as she donned a pair of shiny black PVC-like trousers for the ITV show.
Alongside co-host Ben Shephard, Cat joined the show on a permanent basis earlier this month after finally being appointed as the long term successors to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby. Whilst early reviews of their partnership have been mixed – so have those of former CD:UK host Cat’s clothing it seems.
Ben made reference to the trousers immediately as the show began after the pair suffered a microphone mishap during the opening credits. “Its these wipe-clean trousers of yours,” he joked. “Nothing clings.”

Cat explained in response: “Listen, we’re doing an item about trousers today – statement trousers. Is this enough of a statement for you?” Ben continued: “It feels very Blake’s 7. Look at those trousers!”
Over on X (formerly Twitter) fans expressed their thoughts on the 47-year old’s look, with users both for and against her unusual sense of style.
One asked: “Has anyone here checked out Cat Deeley’s sexy black leggings on #ThisMorning This Morning? Another gushed: “I don’t think we would mind in those trousers Cat #thismorning.”
A third disagreed, however, adding: “#thismorning Those trousers are awful.” A fourth questioned: “Is Cat been paid to wear those bin bags?#ThisMorning.” And a fifth agreed: “Looks like Cat’s wearing bin bags on her legs #ThisMorning.”
Last week Ben thanked fans for their response after receiving messages of support regarding their new roles. After completing their first week on Friday, he wrote on Instagram: “Thank you for all your lovely messages. See you Monday I hope!” .Cat also shared her excitement, saying it had been “so fun”.
Among those sending well wishes was Susanna Reid, Ben’s former co-host on Good Morning Britain. She congratulated the pair, saying: “Fabulous week well done you and @catdeeley.” One fan posted their appreciation under a picture on Shephard’s Instagram saying, “Brilliant first week , keep up the good work Ben and Cat,” and another added: “Loved watching you both this week.”
However, some were less impressed with the new team. One commented: “Think Kate [Garraway] with yourself would be better and you know each other so well,” and another critiqued: “Love you Ben, but Cat is just not suited to This Morning, Josie or Alison or even better Kate Garraway.”
